The names were so rediculous, the reported couldn’t keep them straight, at one point calling the father “Strong Eagle”, instead of “War Eagle”.

I keep hearing how killers like the Virginia Tech killer were “functional”. Not really. They eventually malfunctioned. And the repeated violent and threatening run ins with the law are there.

They don’t have to sit in a prison somewhere but there is no reason they should be roaming around unmonitored.

There used to be mental institutions where people could get free mental health care, they were called State Mental Institutions. Liberals decided they were cruel and shut them all down and now people with mental problems are out on the streets killing others and somethimes themselves.

I was only joking. Didn’t you see my smiley face? These are obviously Native American names.

The father said his son was trying to get his G.E.D. high school equivalency, but was not able to complete it due to his mental health problems. “He's been bothered with mental problems for a long time,” the father said. “He tried to get medical help for them, but he couldn't afford to pay for the care.”

A guy with "mental health problems" has access to a rifle and takes it to a school with the intent to shoot at students. Sounds like he wasn't appropriately free on his own recognizance. Hopefully he remains locked away from civil society on a permanent basis.

Years ago, State run institutions were shuttered and patients literally put on the street for cost containment.

Actually, the ACLU sued claiming their civil rights were being violated by being locked up in state run mental facilities. The states were more than happy to be rid of that expense. Thus was born a huge and continuing body of mentally ill homeless on our streets.

The story here is that after two students were shot a math teacher was able to tackle the guy between shots of the bolt action rifle.

Benke's quick action and bravery are credited with saving countless lives.
