It is really disheartening that racial strife is continuing after all this time. I know there will be some Freepers talking about reverse discrimination and affirmative action and all that bullsh*t, but it is really about human beings not respecting and loving each other in spite of our differences. I’m trying to figure out when it will end.
Amen. Sadly there are people on both sides who will use this to their advantage, instead of trying to make it better.

Never, its part of human nature to a certain extent. When certain groups demand special treatment it only aggravates the situation.
America is MUCH less prone to this type of behavior than many other places in the world.
Well, maybe you are also the cause of this type of strife. Yes, reverse discrimination exists and only causes more problems. Really, if we want to get past this, we really have to get rid of all government discrimination...pro and con.
It seems that liberals have the major problem.. I have never had a problem judging a person by his actions and beliefs (what many of us call morality) - just try that on a liberal. Many of us have never thought about color, race, or creed, but judge a person based upon his actions and morality. Why liberals can’t do that is a problem.

These kids are probably spoild rich brats with too much time on their hands. Maybe the brass could find them something to do, something they wouldn’t pick out to do.
The bottom line is, they can't have it both ways. You can't have "black history month" to celebrate supposedly "good" racial characteristics and then complain when people joke about supposedly "bad" racial characteristics. Once you go race, you never go back.

Robinson is referring to a note found at UCSD last week that read "Compton lynching"...Many minority students have said the incidents speak to a larger problem.
It sounds like a set up -some note found, hidden conspiracies against black students, "many" minority students have said (how many?), a small incident that only points to a larger problem- Sounds more like an Al Sharpton media festival.
The two girls quoted are allegedly top students, but listen to what they say, "“The whole party was planned to dehumanize our culture,” Diop said. “They chose to emphasize the parts of our culture we have no control over. Who wants to live in the ghetto?”
The party sounds like it was in poor taste, but ghetto isn't black culture. These girls by their own hard work have chosen the true black culture of success. I know black doctors, architects and lawyers who are in their late seventies and eighties who made it on their own when you really could be lynched. They succeeded without affirmative action and out-competed their white counterparts. They rejected welfare and have the following in common - they stayed married and raised children in those marriages. Other than that they come from varied backgrounds.
This is a non-story looking for legs. Dumb Frat party yes, racial tension, I don't think so.
You will recognize that day when lame slights are brushed off as no big deal. As long as the molehill remains the mountain, people will be on edge and uncomfortable with each other.
There's no such thing as "reverse discrimination". Discrimination is discrimination, no matter who's doing the discriminating or who's being discriminated against.
Being insensitive and stupid is a rite of passage for young people, not necessarily bone deep racism in this case.
My crowd threw a Guyana party a month after Jonestown with Kool-Aid/grain alcohol served out of a metal tub with squirt syringes. Insensitive, absolutely.
But amazingly every one of us eventually grew up.

Oh for goodness’ sake. Do you get offended when Jeff Foxworthy does his You might be a redneck shtick? Do you laugh when someone makes a trailer trash joke? It’s humor. The best way not to the butt of jokes is to not do things to be the butt of jokes.

It's more than that...at least for me anyhow...minority whining doesn't matter so much to me...everyone whines like crybabies in today's culture.
It's two things really....the fact that aside from minorities like you and a handful of others here are on the right side, most are not. Most are part of an attempt to destroy our culture as we know it and to install a government that is preferential to them. The issue of granting amnesty will do that and blacks like yourself will in due course become fairly insignificant due to your ever decreasing share of the population.
The other issue for me is the crime issue and the racial nature of it. As a white man today almost any black area of note is a danger for me to be in potentially....some even in daylight. The opposite is not true for blacks..not even close and even back in Jim Crow days or even Night Rider days the casualties were a fraction of what they are today for whites victimized by black criminals and having fought that battle myself I know that there is definitely a hatred-bitterness towards whites shadow over it all. There is no vice versa comparable....for instance on rape...almost no black women are raped by men in the US...the number is so small it's hard to ascertain.
The black community is a mere shadow of what it was 50 years ago with families and morality. I hate to see that. I grew up in a majority black county back when everywhere was safe. Now that has spread just the same to poor whites. Latino barrios hardly better if any.
I only see all this getting worse but...a big but...some minorities will see past skin color and ally with the majority of decent folks here who wish to function as families and God fearing people and leave the hood to hoodlums.
These are bad times and nack when I was a boy we were hopeful what with all the freedoms exploding but we were naive and went about it completely the wrong way. We created a subset of crybabies thinking they are owed something and rationalizing their hate and lack of decent behavior even though they never lived under any yoke but one self created.
this something of a worldwide problem...the revenge of the non white world basically everywhere...it is a cornerstone of progressivism.
