To: El Cid

My initial reaction was that the whale should be put down. But the more I thought about it, the more I considered the human life that was taken. I’m certain that the woman who died would not want the whale killed. Her family and colleagues are not calling for the whale to die, why should I be any different.

If life is to be respected, I’d like to respect the life that was taken. Keep the whale alive.

Perhaps they ought to return this Orca to the wild. It obviously is not reliably people-friendly.

Yours is a thoughful answer. I agree with you. This whale, however, should not be interacting with any other trainers or any human close enough for it to kill. Perhaps it should be released — unless it is not capable of hunting in the wild.
