They weren't seen or heard at Thursday's presidential health summit, but a supporting cast of characters haunted the scene, from a woman forced to wear her dead sister's dentures to President Barack Obama's daughters.
These individuals and others emerged briefly throughout the daylong summit hosted by Obama as both Democratic and Republican lawmakers invoked their own personal stories, along with anecdotes from friends and constituents, to try to prove their points. There was a similarity to the touching or troubling stories of people in need even when the tellers were at loggerheads.
Among the vignettes heard Thursday:
-The one from Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y. drew some stunned looks. She talked of a constituent who had no insurance, had no dentures, and had to wear her death sister's ill-fitting teeth. "You will not believe this, and I know you won't, but it's true," Slaughter said.

Some woman doesn’t think it is a priority to buy her own dentures and that is a good reason for Washington to take away my freedoms?
Obama’s bill does not include DENTAL does it? She would still still have to wear sis’ dead dentures.
So why should we have to pay for someone who did not take care of her teeth?
The health care bill won’t do a thing for the woman sporting her sister’s teeth, but why let minor points like that spoil a perfectly good tale of woe?

And Obama accused Cantor of pulling a stunt for showing the 2100 pages of the actual bill but it is fine for someone to bring her dead sister’s dentures?
Anytime the dems parade a witness, that witness should have their background examined very closely.
I include in this the woman who appeared in front of the committee because her Toyota built car sped up to 100 mph.

The truth is that many states have a dentist pool that work to help the very poor with dental problems. The qualifications are strict, but they get teeth.
I’ve been wondering why the Lions club doesn’t collect old dentures to give to the truly needy. Stuck in with a generous polygrip base they shouldbe far better than just applesauce
I kept screaming at the radio today for Rush to point this out.
My current Anthem BC/BS HSA doesn't cover such, but if the Kenyan mandates it in all policies, what the hey, I'm sure my insurer will just throw dental and optical coverage in for free.

These people have absolutely no shame! Some lazy skank didn't brush her teeth and now we all have to foot the bill to buy her dentures? What's next? Dental implants? Botox for committed scowlers? Where does it all end?
I agree, but who are you going to find in today's state-run-media that will do it?
Clue to Rep. Louise Slaughter, you may want to read the bills because neither cover dental expences. Not a bright girl at all.
