Well when I was a kid I was taught that a Hispanic was someone whose ancestors are from a country whose primary language was derived from Latin. So I was taught that the French and Italian were also “Hispanic.” Seem that is not the case these days.
But anyway, it’s an ethnicity and not a race, so yeah most are white folks.
The funny part to me is that in Mexico, white European Spanish families are still busy screwing over the indigenous people of Mexico, and telling them it’s the US’s fault they are getting a raw deal. How they get away with that is beyond me.
The same way that “whitey” is blamed for everything wrong in the USA. It’s easier to scapegoat someone else rather than deal with the issues at hand.
If it is an ethnicity then how can a Mayan from Mexico or Guatemala be considered an Hispanic? Frankly, it appears to be based on a shared linguistic heritage than ethnicity.
