I wanted to name our daughter “Taryn Skye” when she was born. My parents and husband talked me out of it. So she became “Taryn Elise.” If any kid has made her name her own, she has. She’s a wonderful, strong-willed, conservative, smart teen who goes her own way. I’m blessed to have such a great kid. :-)

My mother wanted to name me Sydne(y) Claire because she thought it would look good on a book jacket in case I ever became an author. (This was a LOOOOOONG time ago). My paternal grandfather raised himself up on his elbow from his sick bad and scoffed, “Sydney! I had a HORSE named Sydney. I hope they name her after my mother.”

He died a week later and my father’s family prevailed, so I was named Elizabeth, which my mother immediately shortened with a nick name.

I like the name you chose. Different and nice.
