KINDERGARTEN students will be told about the importance of Sorry Day and will be required to learn about indigenous societies by the end of Year 4 under the Federal Government's draft national curriculum.
Inclusion of the "politically correct" material after lobbying by interest groups is part of a push for history in primary schools with a major focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
The Daily Telegraph has obtained copies of the English, History, Maths and Science curriculums showing requirements at kindergarten level include "engaging with the oral traditions and art of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people".
Senior educationists believe the new curriculum for students in kindergarten to Year 10, due to come into force next year, has been infiltrated by fringe lobby groups seeking to include issues such as multiculturalism, indigenous rights, ethical behaviour and sustainable living.

The leftist socialist M.O. in action, again: Indoctrinate the school children by force-feeding socialist ideologies down their throats!
For like-minded people like us, force-feeding socialist propaganda down school children's throats is akin to force-feeding cold porridge to a baby.
Sorry Day - established in 2008 - is portrayed in the curriculum as a community commemoration in the same fashion as Anzac Day.
Lucky I never had to learn about 'Sorry Day'. When did we have to say sorry? We can't take on the sins of our ancestors, it's totally unbiblical.
One commenter posted: How does 'sorry day' or Aboriginal and Torres Straight islander history provide any benefit to our young children. The government should provide a quality education, not get side tracked by lobby groups peddling there rubbish. I never wanted to say sorry as I believe I have nothing to be sorry for. Kevin Rudd is a fool if he thinks Aborigines want an apology, they want compensation. That's all they ever want. Teaching kids at school about the Dreamtime is a joke. You may as well read them a fantasy novel. How about we teach kids actual history, like where the majority of children's ancestors came from and why. Looks like I will have to re-teach my kids a few things at home, which is a shame as I pay my taxes and expected a quality education from our schools.
Another commenter replied: Why are we cramming so much down our childrens necks so early??? Encouraged to learn another language in kindergarten? Can we just let kids be kids & teach them the basic skills. It really saddens me that we are using calculators too much & I shake my head when the young person at the cash register can't subtract the change in their head - they need a calculator. I am sick of these trendies who think hey - lets get them to learn a new language in primary - don't mind the fact that we are not concentrating enough on the basic maths & english. This govt needs to go!!!
A third commenter voiced his opinion: Teach the children the three R's forget this crap about sorry day, multiculturalism and other subjects pushed down our throats by minority groups. We are all Australians and should all enjoy the same benefits and rights. Studies in matters such as sorry day will do nothing to ensure children secure jobs or improve their standards of living. The courts have held there is no such thing as the stolen generation yet our politicians continue to push the crap down our necks and are now planning to poison our childrens minds with the same rubbish. As for multiculturalism, go to the middle east and try to push our values down there throats one would be bitterly disappointed with the response. These people left their own countries to seek a better life, now let them endorse our values and culture, if they can't or won't the answer is simple return to their former countries. At the end of the day we are all australians with a single culture and set of values, if unable to accept this, get out.
A fourth commenter responded: What a load of crap - how about we teach primary school children how to read, write and do basic maths properly, and leave the touchy-feely, politically correct subjects to later years when the kids can actually have an appreciation for what they mean? Maybe then we won't get another generation of deadbeats who can't make change from $20 without using a cash register like we've got now!
And a fifth commenter voiced her reply: Dear Perplexed If you want your children to know these things, why aren't you contributing to your child's education? The issue at hand is that by trying to brainwash very young children these people are limiting the effectiveness of education. The standard of education in Australia is pathetic compared to what it could be because there are too many fingers in the pie and not enough substance to go with it. The children will suffer in later life because of it. And Yvonne of Rosewood - it may be beneficial to your life plan for employment to do such courses but I doubt that a five year old would appreciate that fact.
W/o even looking at what “Sorry Day” stands for, I took a wild guess: “I’m sorry for being a white person and arrogantly forcing my culture down your throats when I should be celebrating diversity”.

This video has got to be seen to be believed. My second graders school uses the “Everyday Mathematics” books talked about in the video, and its as bad as it sounds. My wife and I have a very hard time helping him with his second grade math, and we haven't seen nothing yet. It only gets worse. We teach him at home after school using the tried and true algorithms we grew up with but if he uses those to arrive at answers at school he gets them marked incorrect.
You got it right. PC lib socialists wrecking it all for us...again.
“Sorry Day”?
This is not only psychological child abuse, it’s sedition.
Sedition means nothing to PC liberal socialists. Anyway, would they be arrested?
You should see what they’re teaching the children in Cuba - I was watching a documentary about Che Gueverra, and they were teaching he was a saint, a hero, and the kids (probably around 7-8 yrs old) were to keep his ideas in their hearts. Yechhh! And in Lebanon, they’re doing plays about him. Musicals. He’s a hero to many people around the world. I had no idea - I thought it was just our crazy Hollywood crowd that idolized him. This is scary!
Me, I got a very Anglocentric British Empire Triumphant.
Which while no doubt viewed with disfavour these days, has left me with a background of the development of Eurocentric society over the last 1000 years. Sorry about that.
