Senators seen ditching cap and trade in new bill Photo 5:12pm EST

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Three senators are seeking to radically overhaul stalled climate legislation by proposing to dump broad cap-and-trade provisions and take a sector by sector approach to cutting greenhouse gas emissions, a White House official and leading U.S. newspaper reported.
Despite strong doubts a climate bill is possible in this election year, Senator John Kerry, a 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, vowed last week to press ahead with a compromise climate bill that he said would win broad support.
The new bipartisan bill could target individual sectors and move away from a system used in Europe and hotly debated in the United States in which companies would be forced to buy and sell the right to pollute, a process that caps and eventually reduces emissions blamed for heating the earth.
"Senators (are) considering sector by sector, market based measures as a means to reduce emissions," an administration official said.
According to the Washington Post on Saturday, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham declared "cap-and-trade is dead" in a private meeting with several environmental leaders this week.

What the heck does that mean?
The Democrat climate bill.
Proposing a better climate in which left-wing revolutionaries can thrive. (Scu&bags in action.)
IMHO
They will just change the name.
Too bad the air-heads can't get the CO2 gas nonsense out of their minds.
“What I’ve said is that we would put a cap-and-trade system in place that is more — that is as aggressive if not more aggressive than anybody else’s out there, so if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can, it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.” ~ Obama
You lose, loser!
“...a sector by sector approach to cutting greenhouse gas emissions,...”
Let’s see, how’s about we start by cutting greenhouse gas emissions from the lips of the governmental sector (legislative, executive and regulatory).
I suspect that’ll solve most of our problems, and we should then be able to leave all the other sectors alone to do their jobs without a lot of interference from DC.
Drop it now!
SARC/
This is cap-and-trade by another name! It has Al Gore’s blessings. See Al Gore’s op-ed in NYT today where he admits that Graham’s bill is similar to cap-and-trade.
Why do we want to cut supposed "greenhouse gas" emissions when there is no evidence that they harm anyone or anything?
Basically, they just changed the name because, thankfully, we have won that debate and turned Cap and Trade into Massive Tax Increase in the minds of most Americans. So they are going to come up with a new touchy, feely name for it. I’m sure it will work as well for them as “Public Option” did for “Socialized Medicine”...
Carbon dioxide is NOT POLLUTION!
Wow, talk about State-supported media . . .
GO HOME Lindsey....
Once again it is about CONTROL!!!! Like government run education they will sneak in the back door cause we slammed the front door in thier face, little by little, this legisaltion that legislation, behind closed doors in the middle of the night, before you know it we’re looking at governmet run healthcare and a government run energy sector. These F N RHINOS don’t get it! HANDS OFF!
We are being screwed by Lindsay Gramnasty. They need to first figure out what actual climate impact is involved. So far, we only have a scheme to play with carbon trading and screw us out of our life’s work in the name of the Communists and National Socialists. Stop them before they kill us.
