More and more attractive targets (cash, personal data, military secrets, intellectual property) have been moved onto digital platforms, attracting the attention of more scammers, bots, and crackers. Implanted ID chips with wireless remote connections would be even more susceptible to h4xing than card-based ID. Every wardriver, script kiddie, and bored Chinese teenager in the world would get into the game of busting the implant network. Live by the Cloud, die by the Cloud.
Sooner or later, the world will return to physical currency (coin) and physical documentation. All it will take is one major attack to reduce the Average Joe’s trust in the Cloud to zilch. Cash is already king; in a world where any network can be penetrated, it will be emperor.
You can’t hack matter — not yet, anyway.
