In the school zone near Dupont-Hadley, the speed limit is 15 mph when the lights are flashing. The school zone is very long. If you happen to forget that it is an active school zone while you are waiting at the red light in the middle of it, you will be speeding before you hit 2nd gear.

The cop will be standing behind the corner of the building north of the intersection with only his radar gun exposed. The ticket will cost much more than one written by Metro for the same offense.

Lakewood is a ridiculous superfluous government completely surrounded by Metro-Davidson. Metro can more than handle all services needed by Lakewood residents, and actually do a better job than Lakewood City can ever hope to.

I am Bobby Franklin’s son. He is the city manager of Lakewood if you did not know.

People who live on the river side in Lakewood have to pull onto Old Hickory blvd over the railroad tracks and cannot see a speeding car coming that is going 60-70 mph. There have been over a dozen fatalities there from speeding vehicles. That is why they write tickets. Everyone hates getting a ticket. I understand why citizens would be angry. Unfortunately for my father the reputation stuck as “Lakewood the speed trap”. I don’t believe my father is a bias man, if the citizens do not want Lakewood, he does not want Lakewood, and he shouldn’t. However, the vote must be legal.
At the end of the day everyone is entitled to there own opinion, but Camile Edwards, in my opinion has gone beyond that point by saying “You hope they have to look for other jobs.” My mother is sick and disabled and will soon be without insurance. There are also people that have kids with down syndrome there. I don’t think a “professional” person would say something like that. I am truly happy for you that Lakewood is being abolished, but I am deeply offended to hear you’re happy that my mother is going to be sick without insurance.

I hope your family doesn’t lose their jobs an insurance. Some things are more important than politics in this world.

-Dustin Franklin

Oak Hill DOES NOT have a PD. You must be referring to BERRY HILL PD.

Lakewood does NOT need their own police department. Metro PD has a Hermitage station that can respond VERY quickly, and I see Metro police cars in Lakewood all the time regularly patrolling.

I guess the Lakewood PD should have been more conscious of the fact that the citizens of Lakewood could vote the Lakewood PD out.

The Lakewood PD shouldn’t have been so hell bent on being nothing more than a speed trap interested in only generating revenue by writing tickets, instead of concentrating on community patrol and policing which should have been the Lakewood PD’s true objective. I say good riddance to them. The officers were useless and were the rejects from all other middle Tennesssee agencies
