The problem is this ruling could also potentially deny people the right to wear skirts if they want.
Schools would not be allowed to have skirts as a uniform item. So girls who want to wear them can’t. That’s not automatic, but it’s a real possibility.
Secondly, it’s about discipline. I realise the US doesn’t have a big tradition surrounding school uniforms but British schools do and they are a useful tool in teaching kids that there are rules in life and that they have to be followed.
They are also a tool for beating the individuality out of you and teaching conformism. That said, there is a limit to what clothing can and should be worn to school.
Still, this story seems to be blown out of proportion. I don't think there are all that many girls born with male genitalia, or getting sex changes at junior high to high school age (there might be some, but its hardly a rule, more of the exception imo), so making an exception for girls born with a dong doesn't seem too far fetched, and indeed might even be the current unofficial policy at the local level.
Yeah, but the rules in life in Britain are absolutely crazy.
