How to take a break from the Hopey-Changey by watching Sarah Palin and Jay Leno
Ann Arbor Examiner ^ | March 1, 2010 | Kevin Fobbs

The American late-night icon Jay Leno will be welcoming Sarah Palin on the second night of his comeback week. Whether you like Palin or not she and Leno will be entering into millions of American homes on Tuesday night as The Tonight Show re-launches with its old host. The howls from her political and social detractors who feel that maybe, just maybe, this political dynamo just might have the right stuff to stir a nation much in the same way that Ronald Reagan – another down-home governor – convinced the doubters and naysayers of his rugged commitment to a new morning in America have already started.

Sitting down to watch The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Sarah Palin is an event that perhaps lends itself to a degree of preparation as well as creating a comfortable setting. After all it was just over a year earlier when a new president had been sworn in and many in the upper elite of the liberal Washington punditry felt Sarah Palin had been summarily dismissed from our national consciousness…or so they wished.

Now a year-plus later, “Sarah Who” is now “Sarah Wow.” Like President Reagan who rose from the wreckage ...

I watched Leno's opening monologue tonight and got mad and turned channels.

Leno was telling Cheney and Bush jokes!!

Somebody should tell him we have a new, much worse POTUS who is a bigger, better joke than heart-attack jokes about Cheney!

And, the L.A. chapter will be there -- IN FORCE -- to help make Governor Palin look good! :o)

What should STUDIO AUDIENCE FReepers write on their hands?

Sarah Palin on Leno vs Romney on Letterman - Tuesday March 2nd ^ | March 2, 2010 | RonDog and FRiends

Sarah Palin will be on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno this TUESDAY, March 2.

Members of the Los Angeles chapter will be in the studio audience.

We will not be able to bring SIGNS inside the taping,
but they cannot prevent us from writing a message of encouragement
to Governor Palin on our HANDS, right?

I'm in favor of us all writing something SIMPLE on our hands, like this, from FReeper MaryFromMichigan :

This could get Jay's attention, and might even make it on TV...

Leno has always been a little lacking in class, which is why I do not usually watch him. He can’t hold a candle to Johnny Carson. I will watch the Palin interview, though.

Checking CNN and FOXNEWS... yet to show an “Alert” on either channel. Should be any second now.

This should be great! Our whole family loves and respects Mrs. Palin as we did President Reagan. I just hope she doesn’t go into a Hillary campaigning tone of voice again. The last time she was on Fox doing a commentary, we had to turn her off.

Anybody know where Palin stands on the whole globalization issue, world bank, role of the UN?

I saw Jay’s “new and improved” tonight show tonight.

Or shall I say, I saw part of his monologue and turned off the TV in disgust.

Leno made a comment on the new chocolate covered cheerios, saying, “What are they...donuts? Maybe they should call them Cheney-ios!”

Then he went on to say that Dick Cheney just had his fifth heart attack, and then said, “What is he? The Apolo Ohno of heart attacks?”

Leno mentioned that George W. visited Cheney at his house, and showed a video clip of George W. exiting his vehicle at the Cheney residence. Leno then said that Bush was expecting the worse when he arrived at the Cheney residence, and then showed a video of a hearse pulling up to a building that looked like Dick Cheney’s home, implying this was the vehicle that Bush drove to Cheney’s home. Truly tacky on Leno’s part.

Leno then said that doctor’s have assured eveyone that Cheney’s snarl would be back in no time.

Another “joke” of Leno’s: Leno said that George W. admitted to praying every day when he was president. Leno then added. “The entire country prayed everyday when HE was president.”

No jokes about Clinton’s recent heart problems, of course.....and no jokes about the antics of the sainted Barack Hussein Obamalamadingdong.

I thought the jokes were funny...topical...appropriate...in good taste. I had a good laugh.

For goodness sake, don't take yourself so seriously.

I agree with you. I miss Johnny; however, the joke tonight was in good taste.

My apologies. I withdraw my comment above. I was listening to the monologue and wasn't watching it as I was doing something else.

I did not see the hearse and must have filtered out some of the jokes. The one I heard was the prayer one during Bush's term, which I thought was funny.

The rest were tacky and in poor taste. Again, my apologies.

The thing about Leno is that he just parrots what his writers hand him. I like Leno much more than Letterman, and I think he would direct jokes at the White House if his writers handed him the lines.

I must have changed channels before he said any good jokes. If VP Chaney's heart attack is the best they can do, they are toast.

I only heard part of it. Switched the channel when I heard him say Cheney had 5 heart attacks. Heart Attacks are not considered as something to make light of in my family.

My father-in-law and all of his brothers dropped dead of sudden heart attacks in their early 50’s. My dad survived a heart attack at age 54. It’s just not funny to us.

With Obama, Pelosi, and Reid don't you think a comedian would have a ton of better material than two people who have been out of office over a year?

What really irks me is you're not going to hear any of them making Obama jokes.

And I do take that seriously and will continue to---thank you very much!

I agree with you; that is not cool. As counter intuitive as it may seem, in light of your post, I think Leno is a closet conservative who finds it necessary to throw his liberal audience a bone once in a while. That being said, even Leno needs to be able to put on the brakes when the line is being crossed.
