These are no longer unemployment benefits, they are welfare payments. There is apparently no end to them, no one even debates the wisdom of extending these benefits for years on end, and only ONE Senator even asks how we might pay for this.

And it appears the American people are a-okay with this, and even outraged that some gadfly ballplayer had the nerve to suggest an interruption of this freebie gravy train.

At some point I am hoping the majority of us who actually work, save and spend responsibly might rise up and put an end to this nonsense, but I guess that is to much to ask for.

“These are no longer unemployment benefits, they are welfare payments.”

Precisely: which is what I called them in the NewsBusters item. Once they are “extended,” by definition they are more than people paid for through their contributions and become welfare.

Well beats giving the money to Wall Street bankers. And in any case extensions or not it's all just welfare and if you weren't giving them this we'd be giving them real welfare. If they didn't have this then they might start to actually look for any job they could get, including jobs illegals have. Then they might get upset and start agitating for illegals to go home. Which would up set a lot of rats that depend on them for votes. Can't have that now can we? Bread and circuses for all!
