In the modeling, it turned out that issuing tax credits could backfire, while taxes on fuel proved beneficial.

“Tax credits don’t address how much people use their cars,” said Ross Morrow, one of the report’s authors. “In reverse, they can make people drive more.”

Dr. Morrow, formerly a fellow at the Belfer Center, is a professor of mechanical engineering and economics at Iowa State University

Researchers said that vehicle miles traveled will increase by more than 30 percent between 2010 and 2030 unless policymakers increase fuel taxes....OH,BOY HERE WE GO!!!

To meet the Obama administration’s targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions, some researchers say, Americans may have to experience a sobering reality: gas at $7 a gallon.

How will this impact the puuur?

That’s a JOKE. It will have to be AT LEAST ten dollars, before there is a substantial reduction in driving.

Or we’ll have to have tolling at around 30 cents per mile, which we’re about to get here in Texas, once Perry gets re-elected.

I knew that this was their plan for many years now. Trillions in new taxes masquerading as "saving the planet". Hopefully more will open their eyes as well to what the dems got planned. Take a look at this link to see how much your already paying to the state and fed per gallon you buy.

I wonder how long $7 gas would take to shut this country down.

Truckers would be out of business.

No goods get moved.

Stores close.

People get fired.

Can’t afford gas to look for work.

The End.

I’d pay the higher gas taxes if we could set clowns like these on fire.

When gas was $4 a gallon I almost couldn’t afford to drive except to work and back home, grocery store on the way.

At $5 I probably wouldn’t have been able to afford to drive to work.

At $7 I probably wouldn’t be able to afford groceries.

Anyone who doesn’t take the fact that global warming is essentially a hoax into account shouldn’t be listened to, and any such fuel tax or crap and tax provision must be stopped.

We just need to force all liberals to always use the public modes of transportation they force on the rest of us.

That will get them to come around to reality for proposing such asinine things.

The one good thing again with this proposal is that we see an example of liberals using tax policy as a punitive measure to force people to do what they want. Far cry from their usual ‘taxes are needed to make government work’.

try to tax bikes via licensing fees and watch them scream about how it will cut down on the number of riders. They did that in Washington state, it was so funny to see them screaming about it. One flat out said it would destroy the biking community there because increasing taxes decreases the behavior.

When it’s behavior they want, and taxes increase, they bitch. When it’s behavior they don’t want, tehy praise it. They are such enormous hypocrites.

ObamaCare gets shoved down our throats.
Insurance rates increase.
Cap and Trade and the EPA fraks us somemore.
Gas and energy rates increase.
Coupled with tax, tax, and more taxes.

With Jack Squat Barry and the Dems/progessives throwing dynamite on a already burning fire [large measure of the American people are already pissed beyond measure], Jack Squat and a large portion of Dems should be exiting quite hastily from center stage quite nicely in 2010 and 2012.

At $7 a gallon, gas will be too expensive to use for driving, and will have to be saved for use in Molotov cocktails.

This is what the New Senate Energy Bill will do. It is designed to Cap CO2 and allow for a CO2 tax. The Trade part will come later.
Call your Congress. Tell them to Vote no on the new and improved CO2 emission bill.
