Muslim woman barred from flight after refusing body scan
Telegraph UK ^ | March 3, 2010

A Muslim woman is thought to have become the first passenger to be stopped from boarding a flight after refusing to go through a full body scanner for religious reasons. The passenger was at Manchester Airport for a flight to Islamabad when she was selected at random to pass through the security screen. She was warned she would not be allowed to board the Pakistan International Airlines flight if she did not comply with the request but she decided to forfeit her ticket.

Her female travelling companion also left the airport after she cited ''medical reasons'' for not wanting to go through the scanner...

Sources at Manchester Airport said the flight to Pakistan about two weeks ago was busy and that no other passengers objected when chosen to go through the full body scanner after check-in. The female passenger who declined on medical grounds was said to be concerned because she had an infection...

A Manchester Airport spokeswoman said: ''Two female passengers who were booked to fly out of Terminal 2 refused to be scanned for medical and religious reasons.

''In accordance with the Government directive on scanners, they were not permitted to fly.

''Body scanning is a big change for customers who are selected under the new rules and we are aware that privacy concerns are on our customers' minds, which is why we have put strict procedures to reassure them that their privacy will be protected.''

Wonder what the "medical reasons" are for refusing to be scanned. Or maybe the Muslims have been instructed to substitute "medical reasons" for "religious regions" when refusing to be scanned, just to see if that excuse will work.

In sum, the scanners make people safer.

Good.

You don’t have a RIGHT to fly, you have a RESPONSIBILITY to the other passengers and flight personnel to contribute to a safe and SECURE flight.

Don’t want to be scanned? STAY HOME!!!

Be interesting to know if these women were searched
further after their refusal.
Sounds like a test to me, cover both medical and religious
at the same time.

Thanks to these animals, we all have the choice of being scanned and appearing ‘nude’ on a monitor somewhere, or taking the bus.

The next thing coming is breast implants made with C-4. These will allegedly go through the machines without a problem. So, how long before the Boob Bombs start going off?

Good. Muslims aren’t civilized enough to use public transportation. They can walk.

I still say “Air Infidel” is the answer to all this.

I’ll fly “Air Infidel” and the libs can fly with their Islamic buddies on “Multicultural Air”.

Muslims claim it violates the tenets of their religion, and common propriety, to have their naked images displayed.

Is this not true of Christians also?

What if a Christian made the same claims?

I guess a Christian who had spend his or her life refusing to be x-rayed might reasonably make the same claim. And I guess that person wouldn’t get to board the plane.

Agreed. What do they want to fly anyway. They want to take the world back to the 7th century anyway.

Randomly selected, eh? I hope that the names of these women have been put on a screening list and that they will not be allowed to board a plane until they have been thoroughly examined.

The only problem is that “Multicultural Air” will end up slamming into a building filled with innocent people.

Not that I don’t want all of these people scanned all the time, but is it possible she was on her period and wearing a napkin? Can you imagine the humiliation of having to show someone that it’s just a napkin and not a bomb? I don’t think a lot of American women want their personal business exposed like that, either.

I have to wonder what they’re going to do with people who have on menstrual napkins or adult diapers? Will the adults have to take them off and put on a new one? Just curious how this is going to all play out.
