One source described the show as a “planet-Earth type look” at the former governor’s home state.

This doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Planet Earth was a documentary series, not a "docudrama". "Docudramas" have actors and, often, fictitious stories - they're just shot in the style of a documentary. Planet Earth, on the other hand, was an actual documentary.

Which one is this show going to be?

This article is simply linking back to the HI article, which seems to confirm (”sequel to Commander-in-Chief”) the involvement of Palin and her family. It also links back to the Oscar swag story.

Don't stop with oil/gas she basically has a blank canvass to pick and choose what she wants to highlight. Small town AK? check. Rugged individualism? check Native populations? check. how the government can work for the people? check. Infrastructure building? check.

history of the Seward's folly? check

Klondike goldrush? check.....the Federal parks, the state parks, the timber industry, the miners check check check

this will be an hourlong wonderland visit with little germs of Palin’s worldview thrown in. It is a masterstroke.

How the industry and environment can coexist. how big the world really is. etc etc

because she wants to broaden her support. she has the FOX viewers. Now she needs to reachout to the network viewers. It is how you go from 46% to 52%

I finished her book about two weeks ago, and I totally agree with you.

One hour won't be enough time to get through what she has to offer.

I did not want people to think it was a duplicate post, and this article is much clearer than the one you posted about the nature of the docudrama Palin is pitching."

I was not sure how stringent the policies regarding titles were, particularly for excerpted articles as I've noticed freepers being liberal with some headlines in the past and adding taglines like "Barf Alert" (which I've never done.) I was simply telling OldDeckHand that if there is a problem, I'll heed the instructions of the moderator and someone ended up adjusting the title after all and it is perfect!

The other thread you've chosen to headline the front page news of this forum is only feeding the rumor mill the mainstream media creates in its efforts to undermine a patriot like Governor Palin into the unthreatening reality show caricature of their hopes and dreams. It is a misleading title that will perpetuate lies and further degrade the image and credibility of the conservative movement as a whole. Sure, it's people's responsibility to get the details--but there's no denying that snippit headlines like "Palin Shops Reality Show" has a subconscious impact in affecting our idea of who she is and take away from the credibility she's garnered as a strong voice for our beliefs, with substantive ideas about the issues affecting our day.

Plus I am sure many surfers of this site who depend on it for news and only have time to read the headlines, and it's not like the other thread's content really clarifies things either.

They just want the attention off of how well she did on the Tonight Show. Even if Palin never were to run for President, I trust her judgment enough to know she would NEVER agree to a “reality show” in the way that most people think of it.

I hate them reality shows, but then I watch plenty of great documentaries, especially the ones about the wilds of the great outdoors and wild animals.

Those are not docudramas.

It appears that Governor Palin is emulating THIS GUY:

From www.coopersjd.com:

Death Valley Days is a long-running American radio and television anthology about true stories of the old American West, particularly the Death Valley area.

It was created in 1930 by Ruth Woodman and ran on radio until 1945. It ran from 1952 to 1975 as a syndicated television series.

The 558 television stories, which had different actors, were introduced by a host. The longest-running was "The Old Ranger" from 1952-1965, played by Stanley Andrews...

-- snip --

... Following the departure of Andrews, Ronald Reagan became the host.

-- snip --

...Death Valley Days is, judging from sheer number of episodes broadcast, by far the most successful syndicated television Western, the most successful television Western ever in the half-hour format, and arguably the most successful syndication of any genre in the history of the U.S. television market (Baywatch had a larger international market among U.S.-produced syndicated programs).

Presented by:
Stanley Andrews (1952-1965)
Ronald Reagan (1965-1966)
Robert Taylor (1966-1969)
Dale Robertson (1969-1972)
