The Senate has to pass Obama’s “fix” to Reid’s Senate bill before the House votes on anything.

In the next few weeks if not the next few days I expect the idea that the Senate will pass a Reconciliation Bill prior to a House vote on the Senate version of ObamaCare will rise steadily to the forefront of discussions.

The reason why: It is the Dems ONLY SOLUTION. And it is, very likely ILLEGAL. If not illegal it is certainly in violation of the Senate rules which require that the use of the reconciliation process is only allowed to make certain types of modifications to EXISTING LAW. Until the House passes the bill and Obama signs it there is no LAW. So the Dems can't put the buggy in front of the horse. But of course they will try. It is the only choice they have left.

So get out the popcorn and start watching for the Dems to begin explaining why what I wrote above is not really true in this case. You read it here first. You will soon be reading about it in the WSJ and listening to discussions about it on Fox News.

“The only way to flip all three? The Senate has to pass Obama’s “fix” to Reid’s Senate bill before the House votes on anything.”

Excellent point. Voting for the full bill at first means the Senate could just IGNORE reconciliation and send it off to Obama.

Why? When both houses vote on the same bill, it’s past. It’s over.

The only reason for the talk of reconciliation is the ‘promise’ to to it.

But, if you don’t pass the “fix” first....that’s nothing but empty words.

And while the fix is better (tons better), it has a lot of problems and still is basically Obama ramming his lefty agenda through...

We will never know. If Pelosi can't pass it she will not call for a vote.

As I understand, the reason for the March date was so that the whole pant load could be wrapped up before they leave for Easter recess. Once they come back (if they do) home for Easter recess, the folks back home will bring tar, feathers, pitchforks, and torches. If they thought the summer Tea Parties were tough, wait until the Easter recess as last summer will seem like a Sunday picnic.
The only hope Pelosi has is to get them to vote before the big "meet and greet" back home. Once they return from the recess, many will be followed by voters with boxes and moving vans...to help them pack.

“Obama could in theory push the vote back into April or May to wait Deal out and force him to resign before the bill comes to the floor...”

Oh please do, Zero. In fact wait until October and ask Congress to do nothing else until then. This would be such a nice October Surprise for voters.

They have to get it done in the next few weeks because the reconciliation window in the Senate closes in April. After that they won’t be able to use it. At least that’s what I’ve been reading but you know how it goes when it comes to democrats and rules.

“When will Obama try to pass Obamacare by executive order? I predict the first week in May. Government comes apart subsequently. Get those generators installed.”

I do think you have something there. I have detected more and more his willingness to just order something done executive orders if he can’t get his way with the congress.

...Gibbs set a deadline of March 18 for passage this morning....

Why are they doing this during Great Lent, when many of us have been giving up our “bashing” Internet comments?
