Why don’t you tell me what we can do with all those whose labor is not needed anymore? Due to the “productivity gains” you fake capitalists like to tout. I’m talking about USA, not Panama the place you bugged out to

Why are we (USA) invaded by illegal aliens from Mexico and Central America? Mostly because they are unemployed or under-employed in their native lands. Those Hispanic nations to our south send the laborers they don’t need or want to America

Ah, you weren't joking, thanks for responding.  This whole labor/productivity process is important and would be good to get into but if you're mad at me for past topics on other threads then maybe we should work on it another time and for now I'll bid you a fine weekend. Cheers!

I disagree. In many respects the illegal immigration problem is similar to the illegal drug trade: they're both being driven by American demand.

There are a couple of reasons why we're being invaded by those folks.

First, because Americans are paying them to come here -- whether by giving them jobs, or government benefits.

And second, because they're a lot cheaper to hire than Americans are, especially in jobs requiring physical labor.

In a very real sense, illegal immigration is just another manifestation of the same economic forces that have driven corporations to send their manufacturing operations overseas -- we in-source labor, just like we outsource manufacturing.

When you look at it that way -- as primarily a problem on the American demand side -- the options and approaches for dealing with illegal immigration take on a different cast.

The solution ends up being coupled with the out-sourcing problem, and both are addressable by finding ways to decrease the cost of doing business using American workers.
