Expect snow job from White House on jobs report
NY Post ^ | March 4, 2010 | John Crudele

WASHINGTON may have gotten blizzards last month, but that's nothing compared to the snow job we'll probably get from the Obama administration tomorrow.

At 8:30 a.m. the Labor Department will announce the nation's jobs report for February.

The experts are expecting another loss -- this time 20,000 jobs compared with the 50,000 positions that disappeared in January.

I'm not even going to try to guess whether the experts' predictions will be high or low compared with the announced number.

With things like seasonal adjustments, arbitrary guesses on the formation of new companies and millions of temporary census jobs being created I'd have as much luck with tomorrow's figure as I do picking the Mega Millions numbers.

“Snow” job indeed. I just watched video of the weasel Gibbs blaming the bad winter weather for job losses.

What’s next? “I was GOING to show you the entire text of the health care reform bill but my dog ate my copy”?

How many jobs were added by CENSUS hiring? Funny how they only focus on the anecdote that helps them politically.

Along the same line, this is almost as irritating as the constant drumbeat of:
"We've stemmed job losses. In January we lost 750,000 jobs. In December it was down to 85,000...a dramatic improvement!".
Here's how the marketplace really works:
John owns a small manufacturing company. It runs 3 shifts, 100 workers per shift. He has 60 people in sales/management.

In January, sales slump and he shuts down the night shift plus 15 supervisory jobs. 115 jobs lost.

Come June, things are worse. He lays off the evening shift and 5 salesmen. 105 jobs lost.

Now it's December. Unemployment taxes have gone through the roof. Health insurance skyrockets. But he only has the day shift left. He can't cut that. So he lays off 10 more office personnel. 10 jobs lost.

115. 105. 10.

Do you think John would say things are improving? Of course not. Those last 10 layoffs cut into bone. He's probably putting in horrendous hours to compensate for the workers he can no longer afford. The employees who remain are demoralized and overworked. If things don't improve soon, he has no more room to cut...he will have to shut down the entire enterprise. He prays it won't come to that.

Meanwhile, politicians and reporters in Washington look at John's numbers and tell us what a wonderful job they are doing!

The rate will come in at an unexpected 9.99%.

Methinks 0b0z0 and his thugs always know the numbers in advance and have the chance to cook them.

The snow job may be reverse psychology. When the job report comes “better” or slightly positive, 0kaka will smell like a rose, an oxymoron at best.

Good illustration. This administration is also regularly coming back and correcting the “not as bad as it could have been” numbers and the real tally is “as bad as it could have been.”

This destruction is on purpose. There are hundreds of years of history and plenty examples of what works economically and what doesn’t. Those example abound even today. Yet, this administration studiously heads in the wrong direction while knowing the outcome.

They may seem dumb and if you are expecting prosperity they are. If they intend destruction, and that is the direction in which they are moving, they are doing all the right things. They are smart.

Thanks, it is a pity that some people don’t understand that. I have sometimes used a different illustration.

When I was a poor lad in South Carolina we raised our own meat, sometimes on a clear frosty Saturday morning we would butcher a hog(pigs were allowed to grow into hogs) my father would shoot the hog in the forehead with a .22 rimfire rifle and it would drop instantly to the ground. He would then roll the hog onto its back and plunge a long knife into the heart whereupon blood would shoot three feet into the air for a short while and then it would slow down and the fountain of blood would drop lower and lower. There were no Harvard law graduates attending, in fact my father only had an eighth grade education but none present were stupid enough to believe that the hog’s condition was improving because the rate of blood loss was slowing.
