USA Gun Owners Buy 14 Million Plus Guns In 2009

Washington, DC --(AmmoLand.com)- Data released by the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) for the year reported 14,033,824 NICS Checks for the year of 2009, a 10 percent increase in gun purchases from the 12,709,023 reported in 2008.

So far that is roughly 14,000,000+ guns bought last year! The total is probably more as many NICS background checks cover the purchase of more than one gun at a time by individuals.

To put it in perspective that is more guns than the combined active armies of the top 21 countries in the world.

.380 is the only thing I shoot that I don't load/reload for. I have a love affair with my fingers.

Hooray for the USA! That’s the kind of hope I can believe in.

If I admit how many guns and how much ammo I bought last year, the ATF would want to talk to me real soon. Lets just say I could open my own gun store if I wanted. I also just don’t see any end in sight for future buying either.

I presume that all this chatter about losing your guns is just that—meaningless chatter.

Bear in mind that you had better have some real plans for hiding your firearms on your property or elsewhere in case a nationwide roundup is attempted. Saying you lost your guns ain’t gonna cut it once the thugs in jackboots come around.

Oh, burying them in shallow ground and covering with leaves will not suffice. The feds have some superduper metal detection devices that can cover a lot of area quickly, I understand.

What I'd like to know is how many of those 14,000,000+ were "new manufacture" (additions to the inventory) and how many were used/resale (no addition to the inventory).

Seems to me if they attempted a nationwide roundup, that's when you would want to begin using them.

Apparently you haven't been here long enough to know better than to feed the banglist a straight-line like that.

People intuitively know what is coming and are getting ready. Watch for an increase in people leaving the country a sure sign that the revolution is about ready to begin.

With this “unprecedented” recession our messianic President “inherited” from his predecessor... why the increase in gun sales for 2009??

And only about five percent of the gunowners support their Right by being part of a gun rights organization.

I personally don’t give a damn how many guns someone has unless they’re willing to support those Rights.

I bought two with another two on the agenda for this year. Funny how you can’t just buy one gun.
