Palin urges Ohio crowd to act on abortion issues

COLUMBUS — Officially, the Ohio Right to Life rally on Friday, March 5, was billed as a nonpartisan event, but that didn’t stop many of Sarah Palin’s 4,000 fans in attendance from wearing Palin 2012 buttons and McCain-Palin T-shirts.

Kimberly Mohr Christman, sporting a Palin 2012 button and a personally designed Palin T-shirt, called the former Alaska governor an inspirational leader for women.

“If Sarah Palin comes to Perry County, I’ll be right there to help her,” Mohr Christman said.

Palin couldn’t have found a more welcoming crowd.

“I used to not want a woman president but since Sarah came along, I do. Because of her moral convictions,” said Elizabeth Branson of Grove City.

Just before the rally, Palin attended a private $1,000 per ticket reception with donors, including Republicans such as Ohio GOP Chairman Kevin DeWine, state Sen. Jon Husted and former U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine.

Ohio Right to Life declined to disclose Palin’s speaking fee — reported to be in the neighborhood of $100,000 — but at the end of her 45-minute speech Palin promised to donate it back to the nonprofit.

Palin urged the crowd to action on abortion issues in Congress and the Statehouse, and trashed the media for criticizing her for putting notes on her hands.

The mother of five recalled how at 43 she found herself pregnant with a child with Down syndrome and then a short while later learned her teenage daughter was pregnant. Palin said those two experiences gave her more empathy for women with unplanned pregnancies who face difficult decisions. But she added, “There is no accident. Every child has purpose.”

The former Alaska governor was introduced to the world at Wright State University 18 months ago when Republican presidential candidate John McCain named her his running mate.

Since then Palin became a grandmother, quit the governor’s job, fought off ethics complaints, published her memoir, struck a deal for a second book, landed work as a Fox News commentator and positioned herself for a possible presidential run in 2012.

At least one person there said she wants Palin gain more political and foreign policy experience before going to the White House.

“I want to see her progress. I want to watch her grow up,” said Linda Hollopeter of Pickerington.

Isn't this about when she's supposed to be fading away? That's what the little people on my magic box told me! The scribbles on my bird cage liner said she was a quitter and had already used up her 15 minutes, whatever that means...

I can’t wait to see what pathetic comments her detractors can come up with over this. I predict...silence. Not even the greasiest leftist can figure out a “FR palatable” way to spin a pro-life stance into something negative.

Good job, Sara.

“I want to see her progress. I want to watch her grow up,”

What the heck does that mean?

I don’t know, but nothing like ending a story by quoting the sole detractor that the reporter could find in a crowd of thousands.

Sarah Palin has the moral fiber of the Founders. The more Beck teaches and his students study on their own the greater the chance of a renewal of America led by Sarah. I’m working for that day to come about.

“I want to see her progress. I want to watch her grow up,”

Those are not the words of a detractor, those are the words of someone who recognizes that politics is a dirty game, and Sarah is still pretty new at the national game of politics.

Simple truth, and not negative at all.

The Republican Establishment and her detractors are trying to bury her with patronizing condescension: If she studies hard, if she gains more experience, if she learns...

Palin urges Ohio crowd to act on abortion issues

Loaded title. Yep, so if harm comes to an abortion provider (i.e. Tiller), it'll be Sarah Palin and the Tea Party's fault.

What's the new MSM mantra: "...committed by an assailant who appears to have been a right-wing extremist with virulent antigovernment feelings."

This was a very successful event. I attended with my daughter. Great warm up speech from Chris Spielman. Sarah was very much "on" last night, relaxed, in great form, instantly connected with the pro-life crowd.

Her speech was focussed on life issues, given that this was the Ohio Right to Life convention. She talked about her personal experience with Trig, and her daughters pregnancy.

She did have a few incidental zingers for the death crowd currently ruling Washington, to the delight of the audience. She did announce that she would be turning her speaking fee back to ORTL (had a dollar sign written on her palm to remind her!).

After the end of her speech she spent at least twenty minutes on stage, signing books and programs, greeting people, and appearing to enjoy it. She was still there when we left.

No question she is not going away, much to the disappointment of the left.

I was there with my wife!

Sarah was great. Audience was on it’s feet I don’t know how many times. Liked her little Isaiah reference w/regard to ‘Alaskan Palm Pilot.’ Typical Sarah, I guess.

Chris was great, too. Filled out the story a bit for me. You could see he was barely holding it together at a couple of places (understandably so!).

And hey, how about Elisabeth Trisler? She was pretty darn good for a teenager. Pulled a couple lines right from Sarah! Maybe one from Chris, too. Easy to see why she won an oratory contest.

My wife’s final thought was, after seeing her up close, that she really is beautiful, it’s not makeup. Trust a photographer, eh?

We even had protesters! About 5 teenagers carrying signs like ‘I hope the baby you save is gay’. I don’t know if they realized we thought they were clowns…

Be much more specific.
