They did use their positions to push for more spending and pet projects which accomplished nothing but helping them in reelection. While they didn’t benefit financially, they did reap short-term political benefit, at the expense of the taxpayers. That’s what I was referring to. If they win control of Congress this year, they need to do things differently.

Yes. Stop spending. Repeal the layers of crap heaped on us the last 15 years. Strengthen defense. Rein in the EPA. For starters.

"pet projects" are what is known as "constituent services" and they're one of the reasons Congressmen are sent to Washington. Your argument is worthless anyway. Pet projects aren't what's bankrupting the country, its the billions being given to unions, Left-wing activist groups, environmentalist causes and the socialist programs under Medicare, Medicade, government pensions and Social Security.

You need to quit falling for the "everybody does it" nonsense and the manufactured crap about "earmarks".
