Arnold Schwarzenegger defends job impacts of AB 32

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger defended the state's greenhouse gas reduction law today, dismissing a Legislative Analyst's conclusion that determined the measure would cost the state jobs in the near term.

"I travel up and down the state, unlike others that only have theoretical opinions," the governor said during a brief sidewalk news conference after giving a speech at a downtown Sacramento hotel. "I see first hand ... that all kinds of (green industry) places want to expand, all we have to do is give them the incentives, the tax incentives and the job creation packages. I know that AB 32 will create jobs."

On Monday, the nonpartisan analyst released a 10-page letter that concluded the 2006 measure, which seeks to reduce California's greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020, would have negative short-term effects and uncertain long-term effects on the jobs market.

Pathetic. Disgusting. Unbelievable denial of reality. He is is in the wrong party.

I have never understood the lies on the fraudulent green economy. I do not understand how anyone can accept the lies. Even if I accept the need to transform the energy economy, there is no economic principle that indicates the radical transformation will not be costly. The green lie is just the broken windows theory of economics. Repairing broken windows is costly to the economy. The idea that government can force inefficient and costly energy production with a positive impact on the economy is ludicrous. Beyond this lunatic reasoning is government control of a vital industry. We have politicians effectively dictating energy investments. Politicians have no stake in the decision other than the next election. Politicians carefully hide the monstrous impacts of their decisions until they have left town.

CALIFORNIANS: DON'T GIVE UP HOPE

It may still be possible to suspend the implementation of AB32. There are petitions being gathered to put a measure on the November 2010 ballot which will suspend implementation of AB32 until the unemployment rate drops below 5.5% for 4 consecutive quarters.

Plus wouldn't it be great to stick a finger in Arnold's eye as a parting shot?

I know that AB 32 will create jobs."

In the same way that hurricanes and earthquakes unquestionably do.
