Anybody care to give a recap of this story? It’s so bizarre and dynamic; have no idea what is going on anymore.

Arr

I remember it like it were yesterday.

It were a dark and stormy night and I were up on the poop deck when Cap'n Emanuel approched me.

He requested me presence below decks if you know what I mean.

Little did I know I was about ta become a cabin man

From what I understand, the Ethics Committee abruptly stopped their on-going investigation of Massa, I figured it was along the lines of Glenn Beck's reasoning, that we'd know if Massa got *the phone call* after his ranting Sunday if suddenly, the probe (no pun intended) was over. When I heard it announced in a news spot, I decided, yep, Massa agrees to shut up, no naming names and all as he'd promised he was going to do with Glenn the other afternoon, they will stop looking into this smarmy, creepy stuff.

Today, Boehner introduced a privileged resolution, something the leader of each party is entitled to do, forgive my lack of specific procedural detail, I believe this kind of resolution goes to the top of the order of business, it is mandatory the House deals with it, etc., why the leader is the one with the privilege to introduce it. Anyhoo, he does so, it was to re-open the Ethics Committee investigation, complete the job, enough Dems joined the GOP to pass the resolution, so in effect, I believe, it would mean they must continue the probe.

I hope I got enough of this correct for you -- I know what you mean about bizarre!!

If you haven't done so I would recommend reading the entire article available at the link.

House Republicans are kicking Dem butts.

1. Massa crosses some line with someone on his staff. Nobody knows what it is. It could be anything from telling a crude joke to making a pass. What is clear is that it is the kind of thing that normally would get swept under the rug (by both parties, GOPers are not saints in this regard either).

2. Obama’s people get a hold of this info and attempt to blackmail Massa with it to change his vote.

3. Massa calls their bluff.

4. Obama’s people weren’t bluffing. They use it to force out Massa.

5. Every Democrat in congress realizes they too have something they could be blackmailed with (I’m not saying they are all crooks; it’s been said every tax return has an error, that doesn’t mean everyone cheats on their taxes, it means that tax code is so complex everyone screws it up at least a little).

6. The Democrats in congress realize they could be next, so they are starting to fight back.

This was a pure Chicago/Alinsky power move by Obama, and I think it will backfire on him. This kind of stuff only works when you can do it behind the scenes (or should I say, under the cover of darkness). On a national stage, with its intense spotlight, these Alinsky ploys unravel.

That’s what the GOP is doing; shining a light on Obama’s Alinsky tactics.
