House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told her members Friday to brace themselves for a climactic health care vote as early as next week, warning them to clear their schedules for next weekend and promising to stay in session until the landmark vote, people present said afterwards.

What’s your exit strategy Nancy and why are you willing to fight more for this than victory in foreign combat?
"...promising to stay in session until the landmark vote enough arm-twisting, parliamentary shenanigans, threats, and outright bribery yields enough votes..."
fixed it.
They know good and well, that if the Reps go back home for Easter recess, they will be too scared to vote for it later.
They have to cram it through now, because of the coming elections and all the other issues and the fact that the people will have forgotten about it by the time November comes around if they pass it this early.
Pelosi is posturing, err LYING. She doesn’t have the votes, so which next week is it? or Will she bring it to a vote and lose?
The White House staff got booed in the closed caucus meeting today.
It's now the far left who are being wooed...those who are angry that there's no public option.
She's going to bribe them with a new Gov't student loan provision.
MaObama himself said that it will have to be passed in this form first to be later brought to the final Single Payer stage.
True...but they don't believe her.
All they can see is the mandate in the bill which from their point of view enriches insurance companies.
Thus, she's trying this latest bribe with the student loan thing. The left likes this idea. Let's hope they don't like it enough to change their minds and vote for the bill.

Democratic members of congress. Rush said it on his show, but does not appear in this transcript:
RUSH: Now, here’s what I, ladies and gentlemen, am hearing. We have some spies that are able to fill me in on the House Democrat caucus meeting this morning, and in their caucus meeting this morning, the House Democrats were told that there will definitely be a House vote in the next week on health reform, and that all members need to be prepared to stay in next weekend and through the following week until the vote happens. She’s not letting them leave, even if they have to sit there and debate an algae bill.
They were told, members of the Democrat caucus were told this morning, that the rule would be closed providing for one vote — and that one vote would include the cramdown. I think “reconciliation” is the wrong word to use here. “Reconciliation” sounds problem-solving and really sweet and kind. “Oh, there are people getting along.” This is a cramdown what’s happening here. The cramdown provisions are amendments to the Senate Health Reform Bill and the student aid package. The student aid package is going to be thrown in there, so it’s the student loan bill and the Senate-passed reform bill. Now the Senate bill vote is not separate. It’s wrapped into the single vote. In other words, they’re not going to pass a Senate bill by itself.
They’re going to “deem” it passed. I guess they’re back to this. They’re going to have one vote on the Senate bill (and the things they add to it) in the House of Representatives. So when members vote for or against the cramdown package, they will also be voting for or against the Senate-passed health reform bill. Now once passed, the Senate bill will go to the president for signing and the reconciliation provisions will go to the Senate where they will need to pass unchanged. That is the procedure. Now, our spy said that while the leadership has not yet shared the legislative language of the add-ons, they have been told that the cramdown package has deleted the Cornhusker kickback and the Gator deal, but the Louisiana deal and the Connecticut hospital deal are still included.
So Nelson loses his thing. The Gator thing is out. But Mary Landrieu gets to keep her Louisiana Purchase and the Connecticut hospital deal is still included in there. The Cadillac tax was changed so that it only addresses individuals making $250,000 a year or more. Our spy also said that the DME tax would be 2.9%. The abortion language has not been changed from the Senate bill. So they’re basically just going to say, “Screw Stupak.” and The spy also said he’s not sure yet whether Pelosi has the votes, but he thinks she’s close. This is all over the ballpark. It depends on who you talk to. Lobbyists who are close to this are saying it’s below 50/50 this thing is going to pass. Anyway, all the details are going to be rolled out this weekend or Monday, and that’s the procedure. That’s what we’ve been told is going to happen: A vote within a week.

Michele Bachmann said in the caucus meeting yesterday that the White House people actually got booed by members of the Democrat caucus when they were presenting what Obama wants in this thing. It was Pelosi that came out after the meeting and said, (imitating Pelosi) “Oh the leadership from the president, why, we wouldn’t be where we are. This is the most competent leader, this man’s vision. We’re going to get this done.”
Thanks for the update.
Three comments:
1. Not having to vote directly on the Senate bill in the House is disinformation from Pelosi. We’ve heard nothing from the parlimentarian refuting the GOP position from yesterday: the House must pass the Senate bill as-is.
2. Note that Pelosi gave the game away with the “celebration at the White House.” She was talking about the Senate bill. It’s the only bill BO can sign at that point.
3. All of the pro-abortion comments today from Waxman, Reid and Hoyer suggest to me that they are trying to placate the hard Left, and are setting up abortion as the reason for failure in the House. Otherwise, they are nuts.
Doesn’t matter, they have to pass the SENATE version first, then it will be HAND carried to the WH for obambi to sign into law. Keep those phones ringing, even if your rep is a republican call them and tell them in no uncertain terms HELL NO to any health care bill.
IF you believe that I’ve a prime piece of ocean front property in the GOBI desert to sell at a reasonable price.

Code Red - House Target List on Health Care
The National Republican Congressional Committee has published a target list on health care. In addition to continuing to contact the five Tennessee Democrat Congressmen, you can go http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/94697.aspx to contact some of these targets. Much of the talk following Obamas announcement has focused on how to defeat this second bill through reconciliation, but that is misleading because the first step to defeating Obamacare is not by concentrating on defeating the fixer bill but by defeating the Senate bill in the House when it goes to the floor for an up-or-down vote on Thursday, March 18th.
