Deadly Triumvirate Destroying America
The Philadelphia Bulletin ^ | Friday, March 12, 2010 | HERB DENENBERG

Posted on 03/12/2010 3:06:29 PM PST by Dick Bachert

Here’s the quotation of the century, providing a critically important insight I’ve never seen stated before. Read it and weep; read it again and then act:

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

My friend who sent me this gem, Dick Bachert of Atlanta, said it was too bad the author is unknown, but whoever the author, he deserves a Pulitzer for his brief but powerful insight. I would, however, dish up some blame not only for the public but for other groups as well.

Perhaps the primary blame should be assigned to the mainstream media, which gave Barack Hussein Obama a free pass. The mainstream media by and large reported only the positive news on Mr. Obama. They downplayed or censored out all the negative news, as documented by Bernard Goldberg in his important book, A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (But Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media.

His record was clear. He associated with bigots, racists, terrorists, America-haters and others, which citizens of the greatest country in the history of the world would almost automatically avoid. He had a record of radical leftism and liberalism and one of the most highly partisan records. He broke key campaign promises even before the campaign was over, such as his promise to take public funding for his campaign. He showed a propensity to prevaricate, as when he claimed to have never really heard the radical views of his pastor of 20 years, Rev. Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright, who was also his close associate. His record revealed no substantial accomplishments, but an opportunist who merely used his positions as jumping off to the next occupational advancement. He arrived in the Senate, and almost immediately started running for the presidency, leaving behind a legacy of virtually no accomplishment. He had a record of saying what voters wanted to hear, despite his record, his associates, and his real values and views. During the campaign and during his presidency, he has lied on almost every important occasion. He knows his friends in the mainstream media won’t blow the whistle on him.

The mainstream media ignored the negative information, even though it was conveniently available in three excellent books on Mr. Obama: Jerome Corsi, Obamination, David Freddoso, The Case Against Barack Obama, and Brad O’Leary, The Audacity of Deceit. And the media continued to ignore later books critical of Mr. Obama such as Michelle Malkin’s classic, Culture of Corruption.

Any observer could figure out Mr. Obama and right during the campaign I referred to him as the biggest fraud, faker, phony, fibber, and America-hater in our presidential history. Despite his record, the public – relying on information from the mainstream media – did not get the whole Obama story. So, he ascended to the most important position in the world and in America without being vetted, and, thus, the mainstream media sold the public a false and incomplete version of Mr. Obama. America bought a cat (and a radical) in a bag.

Proof of how the mainstream media can mislead the public came forth again after the Health-care Summit. Observers said one positive result of the Summit was the public finally understanding that the Congressional Republicans had been offering extensive alternatives to ObamaCare. The Congressional Republicans were the “Party of No” when it came to radical health-care reform and ObamaCare, but were the “Party of Yes, Yes, and Yes” to many proposals to lower costs and extend access without destroying and disrupting the system, the insurance coverage, and the doctor-patient relationship which the vast majority of people were happy with. However, the mainstream media were not reporting on the Republican proposals, but were merely dismissing the Republicans as the “Party of No.” Consequently, until the Summit, the public wasn’t getting the basic facts about the difference between the parties.

This boils down to the biased, dishonest, and fraudulent mainstream media posing a mortal threat to the survival of our democracy. If America is to survive as the greatest country on earth, it requires an informed citizenry getting the information needed to make sound judgments. That’s not happening now, and until it does happen we’ll be under the shadow of an existential threat.

So, the public better start going out of its way to get both sides of the issue. That means they have to stop relying on the mainstream media as the exclusive source of news and commentary. They should look to conservative publications that give another point of view. For starters I’d recommend one or more of the leading conservative magazines: The National Review, The Weekly Standard, Human Events, The American Spectator, NewsMax, and Townhall.com.

I’d also recommend the leading conservative papers in hard copy or in Web editions such as The Washington Times, The Washington Examiner, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, Investor’s Business Daily (IBD), and locally, The Bulletin. As I’ve often noted in my Bulletin columns, the two pages of editorials and commentary in each IBD are the best two pages in American journalism.

In the television broadcast field, there is the Fox Cable News Network with people such as Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, and Greta van Susteren. And there is an extensive army of conservative talk radio hosts led by Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Bill Bennett, Mark Levin, Michael Medved, Dennis Prager, Michael Savage, Hugh Hewitt, Mike Gallagher, Greta Van Susteren, Laura Ingraham, Monica Crowley and others. All of these radio hosts listed above appear in Philadelphia on 990 AM and 1210 AM.

Among the richest sources of detailed information on the conservative side of the ledger are the foundations and institutes such as the Heritage Foundation, the American Enterprise Institute, the Cato Institute, the Manhattan Institute, and David Horowitz’s Freedom Center (publisher of FrontPageMag). In addition, there are vast resources on the Internet.

There are also specialized groups, some of the best focus on terrorism and related issues. One is Steve Emerson, Investigative Project on Terrorism. Another is Robert Spencer’s Jihad Watch. A third is Daniel Pipes’ Middle East Forum. And, finally, there is Brigette Gabriel’s Act for America.

I’d also recommend boycotting the mainstream media. You might start by cancelling your subscription to The Philadelphia Inquirer, The New York Times, Time Magazine and Newsweek.

In addition, I suggest you support and follow organizations that do battle against the abuses of the mainstream media. Two of the most prominent are Accuracy in Media (AIM) and the Media Research Center. Both have valuable web sites. AIM also maintains a Web site dedicated to boycotting The New York Times, the leader in media bias (www.boycottnyt.com; you can go there to sign its petition). There are also two which specialize in Middle East and anti-Israel reporting: camera.org and honestreporting.com.

The Media Research Center publishes a list on its Web site of links to various organizations which help expose or counter liberal media bias in the mainstream press. Many of the links are to the Web sites of the publications or personalities already mentioned in this column. Among those not mentioned above are Accuracy in Academia, Don Feder’s Cold Steel Caucus Report, The Drudge Report, FreeRepublic.com, National Rifle Association, Oliver North and World Net Daily.

There is one other thing that should happen to stop the mainstream media from defrauding the American public by a biased and dishonest picture of the world. This matter is so serious and poses such a threat to the survival of America, that politicians have to and should feel compelled to take up the issue. This does not mean they should try to regulate the media. But they should use their bully pulpits to educate the public on the fact and dangers of media bias.

It should also be noted that two other institutions are, in part, responsible for selling the American public the fraud that is Barack Obama. There are the major universities and colleges that have become home to education as biased, dishonest, and fraudulent as that of the mainstream media. These major universities are dedicated to indoctrination with a liberal and radical point of view rather than dedicated to education. David Horowitz has documented this problem in his books including The Professors and One Party Classroom: How Radical Professors at America’s Top Colleges Indoctrinate Students and Undermine Our Democracy. These major colleges have become centers of radicalism, anti-Americanism, anti-military, anti-conservative, and anti-Israel forces. Read a few of the professors’ biographies in The Professors and you’ll be shocked by educational leaders who are setting the course of American education. What’s worse, this indoctrination is already underway even in grades K-12.

Finally, responsibility for the fraud that is Barack Obama must also be placed on the Democratic Party. It is now under control of its extreme left-wing radical group. As a result, the Democratic Party has been willing to embrace radical and anti-American values and programs. This, too, has been documented by David Horowitz and Jacob Laskin in The Shadow Party: How George Soros, Hilary Clinton, and Sixties Radicals Seized Control of the Democratic Party. There is an even more ominous problem with the left, also documented by Mr. Horowitz in his book, The Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left.

If America’s citizens do not get informed, organized and tough to stop Barack Obama and his programs, Mr. Horowitz’s next book might well be entitled How Obama and a radical Democratic Party Proceeded to and Succeeded in Destroying America and the World.

Well, I'm glad someone else sees this. I've said this in so many words, before, in posts on Free Republic, in that the real problem with Obama being elected is not "Obama" himself, but rather the people who put him in office....

That's always been the problem. And no matter what happens to Obama, as long as you have those people who vote these kinds of characters in office, we'll never change and "go back" to the way this country should be run.

The problem is really never the leaders themselves, but rather the people who put those leaders there in the first place.

Well, a lot of Freepers have been saying this for some time—at least back in the time of Bill Clinton and Whitewater.

And I would second your prescription: “Pray for America.”

There are plenty of things we can do, actions we can take. And we should do whatever we can. But unless God intervenes, and there is a massive change in our culture arising out of a religious revival and a moral revival, it’s hard to see how we can pull our country out of this mess.

Very true — Hussein can do nothing by himself. Without those congresscritters who keep on saying ‘yes and amen’ to him, he would be a prisoner in the WH.

Without our reluctant congresscritters birthers would know by now who he really is or would have had egg on their faces.

Until pro-aborts are driven out of public life, everything is in peril.

Pro-aborts are murderers and liars. They are a direct threat to the Constitution, because the only way to sustain “legal” abortion is by Constitutional fraud.

It’s mostly the pro-aborts who are for amnesty. It’s the pro-aborts who are the worst taxers and spending. It’s the pro-aborts who are for surrender to jihad.

Single-issue pro-life voting is the most patriotic kind of voting.

We have a dumbed down electorate, the product of a failed education system. And it must be recoginized that the composition of the electorate has been rapidly changing since the 1965 Immigration Act. We are sowing the seeds of our own destruction.

The U.S. adds one international migrant (net) every 34 seconds. Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest it has been in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born. Currently, 1.6 million legal and illegal immigrants settle in the country each year; 350,000 immigrants leave each year, resulting in net immigration of 1.25 million.

Since 1970, the U.S. population has increased from 203 million to 306 million, i.e., over 100 million. In the next 40 years, the population will increase by 135 million. Three-quarters of the increase in our population since 1970 and the projected increase will be the result of immigration.

We are not assimilating our huge immigrant population, most of whom are poor and undeducated. A continued sense of national identity/shared sense of endeavor is at risk.

Obama will be gone someday ... his voters will remain among us.

Act now! Socialize the Legal profession.
It is obscene that in a country as rich as the US, people should go bankrupt because of Legal bills. People have a RIGHT to Legal care.

Good points but it must go further: Every politician who supports this putsch or does not actively fight it should be removed from office at the earliest possible opportunity, whether by scheduled elections, allegations of misconduct, lawsuits, etc. Every politician from a safe district, such as Pelosi, Frank and others should spend the rest of their political careers facing loud and assertive demonstrations whenever they show their faces in public. Let them be virtual prisoners in Washington DC. Those who oppose this legislation should boycott all organizations which support it, including all mainstream media, retailers, banks, investment companies, unions, etc. Celebrities and others who lent their “prestige” to the putsch should be boycotted. If a party “repents” and makes an effort to reverse the situation, it might be forgiven but it is time we put our money and convenience where our mouths are.

Until supporters of this travesty see swift and painful retaliation (no, I’m not talking violence here), they will not fear the consequences of their actions. Let there be public demonstrations, Halls of Shame, boycott lists, slogans, political contributions, volunteer time and more to convince the politicians and their willing accomplices that, like the Republican mascot the elephant, we do not forget. Let them be like Admiral Yamamoto who suspected the Pearl Harbor attack merely wakened a sleeping tiger.

People who voted for SOBama need to be confronted and shamed.

When I see someone with the dope's sticker on their car, I ask them if they know that some a-hole, named Obama, put a sticker on their car and that it's probably wise they remove it lest others think they voted for him.

Take a tactic right out of their playbook, and turn it back on them. Speak truth to stupidity and let them know that because of their careless vote they've set this great nation on what may be an irreversible path of ruin.

The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us.Bingo, Mr Anonymous.

And thank you Mr Denenberg for the references.

The problem is indeed much deeper than cited in even this essay. One could start with Julian Jaynes - The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind, and follow up through a whole bunch of classics. There is a tragic split in the human mind between those who succumb to the symbolism of verbalism, and those who can actually visualize, turnabout, and parse concepts. Whether or not that is genetically determined or can be taught can be debated ad infinitum. One would hope the latter, and certainly to some degree.

It is way way way beyond Ego. And in fact contemporary education in the US is totally drowned in the sewage of ego, self esteem, and verbal immersion. Indeed Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi are paramount examples of human captives of Ego and Verbalism. And youth is subjected to that.

How obvious is that when Shroedinger or Von Braun or Jefferson, or Yeats, can construct wave equations, rocket design, constitutional organization, and compositional theatre?

We are in the Dark Ages, and it is in fact the Left which has led us there.

It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president.

Which also involves restoring the expectations of said electorate when it comes to the elections of pols, and expecting those candidates to have the same common sense and good judgment. That is another key to restoring our country.

And while we pray for America, we must also commit to restoring America. Use your voices; use your donations; use your organizational abilities; whatever you have to contribute, this is the time to act - now!

Tyranny rarely announces its arrival with trumpets and fanfare; it simply opens a door left unlocked, enters and makes itself at home. And in time, the original owners become unwanted strangers in what was once their own house.

An excellent article. Three contributors to our present mess. The people, the press and the politicians (or government). Which of the 3 holds the top position? In my opinion:

The Politicians of both parties (government). Why? Created the Fed. Created Social Security. Eliminated the gold standard. Created the huge national debt with years and years of deficit spending. Created inflation and devalued the dollar. Created the Department of Education and the eventual debasement of our learning program. Created the Department of Energy to make our nation less dependent on others and the opposite happened. Created a huge, incompetent, invasive and controlling organization with very poor leadership. And who is in the number 2 spot?

Probably the People. Why? They bought into the lie of birth to death, we will take care of you BS promoted by corrupt politicians. Individual responsibility disappeared.

And number 3, the Press. They began to believe the same lies as the people and became a cheering section for the government, mainly the liberals and Democrats as a result of the inferior educational system introduced by government. And it seemed to be good for their business.

Time will be the final judge, but the future at this moment looks bleak.

His Che shirt was probably in the wash.

This article was very good, however it failed to mention how the media's demonizing of GW and all things conservative contributed greatly to people being hope-a-doped. I've seen so many otherwise "normal" and stable individuals become ranting, sputtering raving lunatics at the mere mention of the man, but yet they are unable to pinpoint exactly what was so objectionable about him.

That we are a ship of fools that elected Obama to captain our Marxist transformation is due to our indoctrinated population. **SCHOOLS** are the blame for that.

Marxism is our nation's **most** serious threat. Schools are the Marxists’ **most** powerful weapon against us.

Yet...It is evident from the posts I read on Free Republic that few conservatives even recognize that our schools are a threat. And.. If they do, wrong believe that government schools can be reformed. They can't. They must be abolished.

Perhaps the primary blame should be assigned to the mainstream media...It should also be noted that two other institutions are, in part, responsible...There are the major universities and colleges...

OK Taxman. You pinged me. I will weigh in.

The triumvirate here is the media, schools and, lest we forget, the unions. These were the primary targets of the soviet infiltration some 70-80 years ago - we see the fruition of the communist toxin today.

The media (Hollywood, network news and print)is being neutered by the dynamic of talk radio and the internet - the media will never quite lose its influence. The unions have lost membership steadily since circa 1960's (IIRC) - the rush to socialize medicine means 100's of 1000's of new members within the govmint. The schools are the strongest of these bastions, IMO. David Horowitz's efforts at leveling the playing field are worthy of a conservative equivalent of a Nobel prize. OTOH. students do have the internet!

The Dem leadership is overrun with radicals. The silver lining is that most of these radicals are aging - the radical movement within the Dem party has a half-life. If left alone, the bahstids will wreck America in their lust for power so that they can...make America better?!?!?!

The problem that I see is that the radicals are trying to change America while the biggest force against them, the Republicans, are simply trying to stop them - "prevent defense" - they are not trying to do anything else. The Repubs have to push back- radically push back. For instance, get on a gold standard or some facsimile, rid us of the 16th amendment, balance the budget by amendment, arm every citizen (there is a social program for you LOL), go to a national sales tax, plug up the "promote the welfare" clause, etc.

Without this, I have to re-state our "beloved" Harry Reid - The war is lost.

Those who oppose this legislation should boycott all organizations which support it, including all mainstream media, retailers, banks, investment companies, unions, etc.

A million people show up in Washington and the media ignores it. Maybe the organizers of these marchers should rethink that strategy.

I suggest that those who love freedom march in New York City right on the doorsteps of the major news centers. Maybe they should put half a million people in the driveways of the CEOs of the advertising sponsors.

When the Berlin Wall fell the first sites secured by the freedom fighters were the TV and radio stations. The Pro-Lifers who get a million marchers to Washington every year and the Tea Partiers could learn a lesson from that.

You are probably right about targeted boycotts and demonstrations. It is clear the politicians are not responding to basic common sense so they are a lost cause. Whatever we do, the effect should be catastrophic on the target in the same manner the government is catastrophically affecting our lives. With more than half the country opposed to this monstrosity, some planned retaliation ought to get someone’s attention. Will the alphabet networks cover it? Certainly not in the way we would hope. Look how they have caricatured The Tea Party. But getting in the face of their major sponsors, now that is something which could have an immediate affect, especially if the demonstrations were coupled with expectations laid on the sponsors to use their influence with the networks.

Clearly we need to act decisively and clearly to express our outrage at this incursion into our freedoms.

Until pro-aborts are driven out of public life, everything is in peril.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

That means raising up generations of children who respect life. Sending our nation's children day after day into the godless government K-12 indoctrination camps is not going to do it.

Yet...Sadly, from reading the comments here on Free Republic many conservatives do not see the government K-12 indoctrination camps as a threat to freedom. Many **insist** that their child's government indoctrination camp is “different”.

Of those who do understand the danger and threat of government K-12 camps, many FOOLISHLY believe that socialist, single-payer, government K-12 camps can be reformed. They can't be reformed because it is **impossible** to reform socialism.

We must must must shut down every government K-12 indoctrination camp in this nation.

Conservatives must must must see that every child in this nation has access to a world class, conservative, and private education that fully integrates Judeo-Christian values into every course and teaches the principles of our nation's founding.

If our nation's colleges and universities were full to the brim with youth who were well prepared to defend their faith and conservative values their Marxist professors would shrink before their righteousness. In one generation we could reform our colleges and universities.

To: VRW Conspirator; Interesting Times

As you so eloquently point out, we have our work cut out for us.

I agree: We must break the power the media, the schools and the unions have over our country.

I believe that the radical agenda is at the end of its run through history. The Obozo Gang is destroying its own credibility through its stunning overreach and criminal activity. At the same time, these fools are speeding the LIEberal/Socialist/Marxist/Fascist agenda to the ash heap.

The good news? The American people recognize what losers these people are.

2010 will, indeed, be an Interesting Time.

“The current system of GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS (aka INDOCTRINATION CENTERS) did not just make Obama possible. They made him INEVITABLE.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Dick the reverse is also axiomatic.

A generation of children raised in righteousness would make freedom inevitable.

You could really say, and I’m surprised that no one does, that Obambi is a product of little more than white guilt, which many of us here as well suffer from. It’s not just the dumbed down electorate, it’s the white man’s historical burden we all have accepted.

I experienced this syndrome first hand a year or so ago when a dreadlocked black greenhorn was hired by the IT of my company, the second American black there (there were darker Hindus in the place), and almost immediately promoted to manager, ahead of those Hindus, the Asians and the evil Crackers, ahead of having to prove himself. He was a good guy, but somewhat surprised by the honor himself.

Not just the usual stupidity, but White Guilt elected the Kenyan.
