Simulating an event is a normal journalistic practice when you are working with one camera and you need to fill an aspect of the story with a "cutaway" shot. As an example, when they have those hunting shows that show the camera watching a game animal, the single camera cannot capture shots of the hunter and the animal being shot at the same time. So, the video of the animal being shot is recorded and then after the kill, the hunter "re-creates" the events leading up to the shooting so the camera can capture his actions and reaction. The two segments are edited together seamlessly as if three or four cameras are covering the hunt. The same thing is done in pre-recorded studio news interviews where you see those silly reaction shots from the reporter. Again, with one camera shooting the interview, all of the shots are focused on the interviewee and then afterward, the reporter records several reaction shots of her nodding her head, looking concerned and skeptical, etc.

Now, ABC erred in re-creating the cutaway shot of the tachometer, without noting that it was a re-creation. They should have said it was a simulation of what's been happening to some Toyotas, instead of letting the cutaway go as something they captured live while shooting the story.

There was no “error”. It was a deliberate falsification and inteneded to mislead.

Liberal media is intent on helping “Gov’t Motors” and is doing so at the behest of the Administration.
