[BREAKING] JAPAN MAINSTREAM "NIKKEI" NEWS CALLS OBAMA CANCELLING ASIA TRIP (VIA TWITTER) "INSULTING"
Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Tokyo (Original in Japanese) ^ | 14 March 2010 | AmericanInTokyo

Posted on 03/13/2010 8:36:15 AM PST by AmericanInTokyo

The Japanese daily equivalent to the American "Wall Street Journal", the "Nihon Keizai Shimbun" (or "Nikkei" for short) has run a Japanaese language story just now reporting the slamming that Obama and Gibbs are getting for not only cancelling the Obama Asian trip, but in the rather crass, cavalier, informal and rude way it was apparantly gingerly announced (by Gibbs apparantly) through "Twitter".

Alludes in Japanese that this is insulting in an Asian context.

Original article (link provided to Japanese) is: 米大統領のアジア歴訪延期、「ツイッター発表」で波紋

Or my translation: "Obama's Asian Trip Postponement; (White House) Announcement Via 'Twitter' Causes Waves"

I can imagine that just the sudden change in plans would rile Japan and the other countries he is traveling to. I’m sure they’ve gone through a lot of time and expense to set up this trip, keep him secure and all that, and now he’s just changing plans on a whim. They might have been more understanding if his reasons had to do with a real crisis or emergency, but delaying his trip because he wants to see death care passed is not a good reason. If I were these countries, I would be insulted too.

It’s like you plan to visit a friend — he/she takes off work, buys plenty of food and plans some kind of entertainment...goes through all that trouble, and then you just blow your friend off. Good job mr. president.

Do the Japanese understand that we have a bunch of ideologues running the U.S. right now. They are crass, uneducated, and certainly have NO respect for other cultures.

Zeros last trip known as the Bow campaign should have given them a clue as to the trailer trash mentality is in the WH.

Amateurs. Idiots. Morons. Jerks. Assholes. Way in over their heads.

Because they have little to no experience in either business, diplomacy or international affairs and sensitively handling people abroad. They are elitist Marxist professors and standard bolshevik street scum community organizers, probably many of them with passports for the first time in their lives. Propel them suddenly onto the world stage and the big leagues: and you get THIS.

The Japanese weeklies were reporting in November about how RUDE Obama's November Tokyo delegation with him was, and that includings Gibbs, Jarrett, Emmanuel and Axelrod, some of them who were nodding off in the summit meeting with Prime Minister Hatoyama. Sheesh. Jet lag, smet lag. That's what coffee is for you jerks! And toughing out a Tokyo meeting after arriving from the US, until one gets back to the hotel room and can then catch up and crash/collapse.

It is worse than sending the Queen of England DVD’s as a present.

Actually, it was the blind Prime Minister who was the recipient of the DVDs. The Queen got an Ipod filled with Obama's speeches.

And the countries who are not insulted are just amused by how far we have fallen.

Reagan was not perfect, but he commanded respect. This guy just invites ridicule.
