You got that right. The time is long overdue for the “astronauts” to start looking OUTWARD again. This garbage of perching themselve up on that “space station” and looking INWARD is a joke and a waste of time and money. It’s time for us to lease that ISS out to some tourist agency and get the space exploration show back on the road again.

Promising that the first person to set foot back on the moon will be a Muslim “person of color” should get the whole program back on track..

It should be obvious at this point to all rational people that the only reason we aren't returning to the moon is because we never went there in the first place. President Obama is deciding to end the farce.

As technology improves it should be easier to get to the moon yet we can't put a cohesive plan to do so. That can only mean that we staged the whole thing to begin with.

The space shuttle is a dismal failure as is the space station. Manned space flight was never meant to be. Let the Chinese waste their money on manned space flight.

Even simple aeronautics is a failure. We're still traveling at a top speed of around 600mph. The concord was a failure the greens saw to that. For what ever reason they have deemed supersonic flight as an enviro no no.

We're a pathetic bunch of weenies lets face it.

Don’t forget the money they have to spend on Muslim outreach.

I hate Obama as much as anyone, but I fail to see the need or benefits of sending men back to the moon.

Eugene Cernan, the last man to set foot on the Moon ...

The dot at top center of the scene reflected in his visor is the earth.

"They haven't thought through the consequences."

Yes, the consequences were thought through! This was done intentionally as another step toward Third-world America.

It’s entirely OK, it should be done privately as colonization of a new country. Then from there, to Mars and onward, in the spirit of the Founders. :-)

“No different than the decision to dramatically reduce the number of weapons in the nuclear arsenal or the decision to explode the deficit.”

Or eliminate the F-22 program. :P

It’s entirely OK, it should be done privately as colonization of a new country.

Such a development would be contingent on a return to an economy dominated by a few titans of industry, comparable to John D. Rockefeller, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and J.P. Morgan of the "Gilded Age" ... the "Robber Barons".

This is how Jules Verne conceived of a Trip to the Moon taking place, and only such men as these would have the wherewithal to mount an effort like this independently of the federal government. Needless to say, this arrangement is not in the offing.

Too bad getting into office is based on social skills rather than brains. Since instead of electing people who are skilled at marketing themselves, we could be electing people who look at the actual problem, analyze it, and then solve it using practical methods.

Weren't these the same guys who were denied entry into Iraq and Afghanistan, where they hoped to meet with the troops?

Sounds like retaliation to me.

Acts:18 Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph. 19 The same dealt subtly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live. 20 In which time Moses was born. Well there arose a new king, Barrack bin Laden who knew not the space program. You dems enjoy it while you can. For our hardship will last but a little longer, then our Moses will take us to the promise land, and we will be back in the sky. Amen.

Mr Obama cancelled Nasa's Constellation programme, which was intended to build new rockets and a lander to put astronauts back on the lunar surface by 2020, after stating it was costing too much and was behind schedule.

Even if Obama had funded it fully, is there anyone naive enough to believe that NASA would have a man back on the moon in 10 years for anything close to the budget proposed?
