A couple of days ago (maybe Rush was talking about-can’t recall), there was a report that even if the bill was going down, Democrats wanted to have the vote, put health care aside and move on to other issues.

Pelosi is feeling the heat from members who want to move on to the economy and jobs and are tired of the harassment they’re taking from constituents over health care. IOW, they want to be “loved” again and do something constituents want in time to reap the benefits of that before the election.

Dear randita,

You're correct.

Nonetheless, the count from The Hill doesn't automatically put those who voted “no” last time into the “no” column this time. They've actually tracked down congresscritters or their spokesmen, or looked at public statements on the current process.

Thus, the 212 number probably isn't all that bad.

And it means that Nazi Pelosi must pick up approximately 70 of 73 currently-undecideds to win the vote. The undecideds include 10 that voted “no” last time (and thus, could very well vote “no” again) and 30 folks who voted “yes” but who voted for the Stupak language also, last time.

From that group of 40, four additional “no” votes prevent the fascist speaker from achieving her demonic goal.

There might be significantly more than four additional “no” votes in that pile.

Time will tell.

I think it is clear that Nancy does not have the votes.

That's OK, they aren't going to vote. They'll just say it passed, and send it to Obama.

I cant understand how the country is not outraged at their totally unconstitutional attempt to pass it without voting on it, via the “slaughter rule.”

They’ll do what they always do, it will pass by one vote.
I think they will get together to decide on the fall guys, then the rest can just vote no.

“Isn’t the Hill somewhat left leaning, so it could be wishful thinking on their part?”

This is a more useful and less biased tally:

Pelosi’s in trouble, but everyone is sticking to their talking points that passage is inevitable. They want to demoralize opponents into giving up efforts to derail this at the buzzer.

“I cant understand how the country is not outraged at their totally unconstitutional attempt to pass it without voting on it, via the “slaughter rule.”’

Rep. Cantor read part of Article I, Section 7, from the Constitution on Fox News Sunday today:

“in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by Yeas and Nays, “

(I’ll include this in my letter to the editor because many people do NOT seem to know.)

From your link:

“U.S. Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Va., said Friday he could not support health care reform legislation that includes heavy cuts to Medicare, a position he has held since his first vote against the package and his party’s move to push legislation through Congress.

Boucher said he needs to see whatever deal is being cobbled together.

“I am very concerned about a number of things. First, we do not have a text of the legislation before us. That is still being discussed and negotiated. Obviously, I will withhold any judgment until I review it very carefully. I do have concerns about a number of matters I anticipate being in the draft, however,” he said.

Boucher said he is hearing that cuts to Medicare funding to help pay for the reform package “may be as great as $500 billion. That’s ‘billion’ with a ‘B.’”

Senior citizens need to hear this, and I hope the good talkers on FR will call a talk show, or at least tell every senior you know. And tell them the info comes from a DEMOCRAT.

First, we do not have a text of the legislation before us. That is still being discussed and negotiated.

Wrong. The legislation before you is the Senate Healthcare bill. That is what you will be voting on. You can either vote in favor of it, or not in favor of it. There are no guarantees whatsoever that promises being made in a bill that has yet to be offered will ever be fulfilled.

“There are no guarantees whatsoever that promises being made in a bill that has yet to be offered will ever be fulfilled.”

That’s why prolife DEM Rep. Stupak won’t vote for it.

“Word is there will be lots of folks heading to DC for Tuesday.”

That is great to hear!!!!

We who can’t attend can still keep calling our reps, visit them, write letters to editors and/or call talk shows. I heard one phone call from a constituent counts as 40 people.

Wish these members of congress knew as much as half the folks here at FR.

If the House does pass this bill, Obama can sign it and the Senate does not have to change anything.

...and if they chose to change something it can only be in regard to budget issues.

I can’t wait to hear about it.

Plus, it’s working because of folks like them, as well as the people who call their reps.!

either way it is very close and dang scary. Nancy is a hard core hack so these few Dem’s will not enjoy the next months until the new Repub lead House is seated. The pressure on them will be huge.

The real problem is that they are using every dishonest trick to pass this.

And not a single Democrat is protesting!

This is a blatant attempt to do what the lying dim-0s claimed that Bush did in 2000.

Invalidate the peoples votes. In this case by not allowing OUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES to cast OUR VOTE for US.
