I, too carried a .44 when I worked in the woods in No. CA and when working the creeks. You’re right about the pot farms. You could get killed and buried, never to be found. Lots of illegals out there and desperados looking to take what you have, no matter what it might be.

CA is a beautiful state. Too bad the libs screwed it up.

Stay safe, stay armed.

I'm with you. I consider the jerks who ran from the state and the ones who say they will leave as soon as possible the most abject of cowards. You stay and fight, right to the end. Real conservatives take the fight to the dimwits and don't run. I will NOT run from CA, I will stay and fight, I have lived here most of my life and remember when it was a free state.

OTH, I also remember when the whole country was free. CA isn't the only state with a sh** load of liberals in charge.

I don't blame the GOP. I blame myself and others who have voted such that liberal big government Republicans win at the ballot box. When the right shift left, the left shifts further left. The ONLY way to move the Republican party, and hence the nation, to the right is to vote such that liberal Republicans lose.

Indeed. Must be nice to be a billionaire.....then you can have opinions like this......and have your security detail carry guns.

Idiots one and all.

I get it. Framing an argument this way as opposed to the other goes a long way towards making your point.

On the other hand, I feel the whole country has reached the tipping point towards liberalism. Texas has its problems just like many other states, it’s not uniquely conservative anymore, in the context that many FReepers like to claim. If it was, you wouldn’t have had such a sorry collection of candidates for governor. The comparisons can be made between TX and CA in that regard.

I envision a future where Conservatives may have small enclaves or states that are generally conservative, but as a whole, I believe the old maxim. “Once the populace figures out they can vote themselves riches from the treasury, the republic is lost.” Or something to that effect.

I really don’t have anywhere else to go unless I want to give up a job I like and good money. Besides, I’m not a native of any of these states having grown up in the Canal Zone. So it’s not like I have a place to run to. I’ll make my stand here until I’m forced out.

I was in TX during their gubernatorial election and I don't see where they are generally any better off than CA. Perry, Richardson and Medina.

That's a collection of "high quality" conservatives there. /s

See my post 67 for more thoughts.

With Republicans like that, who needs Democrats?

Agree — I’m staying — been here since ‘52 and expect to die here. The worst of it has been the illegal immigration and the welfare programs, including super cheap educational costs compared with other states. Freebies offered means the lemmings will come. Shut off the faucet and see what happens. We’ve already lost a bunch of illegals who decided to go home since there is no ‘work’ for them anymore.
