Axelrod threat to GOP: 'Make my day' (Height of arrogance on display in Zer0's WH)

Top White House adviser David Axelrod says that if Congress passes the Democrats' national health care bill, it will be politically impossible for Republicans to undo the changes brought by the massive legislation. "I say, Let's have that fight. Make my day," Axelrod said on "Meet the Press." "I'm ready to have that, and every member of Congress ought to be willing to have that debate was well."

Axelrod made the point as he put forward the now-common argument that House Democrats who have already voted for the health care bill once should do so again because they will be attacked by Republican opponents this fall whatever they do.

"I've said many times that they've got a vote that Republicans and the insurance industry and others can run against them already," Axelrod said. "What they don't have is the accomplishment. If this bill passes, this year, children with pre-existing conditions will now be covered. There will be an end to lifetime caps and annual caps on what the insurance companies will cover, so if you get sick you won't go broke, if you get sick they won't throw you off your insurance. The doughnut hole will be filled in, so senior citizens will save hundreds of dollars on their prescription drugs. The life of Medicare will be extended, and on and on and on."

This bill, if passed, is going to cause heartbreak and headache for most of the folks in our nation.

duhbama is surrounded with vile people like Axelrod...people duhbama has chosen to guide him.

And the people duhbama has chosen to guide him must TRULY hate their nation and its foundations.

Because, for sure, an offshoot of this horrific bill will be the absolute HATRED for duhbama and as a result, for blacks in general because duhbama will have imposed the wrecking of the best care system in the world for no reason.

Interesting why Axlrod would pose this argument. Is he not aware that by saying it, that he words play to his opponents advantage and not his minions? Strange.

Once this thing passes, the dominoes are going to start tumbling rapidly, and it is going to be extremely difficult if not impossible to repeal all of it.

In the past, I would agree with you. However, a new paradigm is coming into effect. In the past, these government programs have benefited many in the middle class because paying for the government programs were put of to future generations. So, many working people could go about their daily lives without feeling the impact of the legislation. Its easy to support what doesn't hurt you directly.

This legislation is aimed squarely at harming the middle class. It is not so much a health care bill as an income redistribution bill. I think the reason this bill, which started out with popular support, is hated by so many is the middle class instinctively recognize this fact. Add to this the facts that many in the middle class are already hurting (they may be employed, but their income has still been reduced by lack of overtime and concessions in wages and benefits, and the fact that there is no money to pay for these programs these government programs are likely to remain highly unpopular.

As for your hypothetical 26 year old - he or she just may become to the big government left in the upcoming years what the peace movement was to the right in the 60's.

It would be highly entertaining to see Nancy Pelosi screaming at the top of her lungs about mean, evil Republicans using the very same below the belt tactics she used to repeal this monstrosity.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. I would love to see the GOP try to repeal it using Slaughter Rules, just to make her head explode. I doubt they have the kahones for it though.

Your point is well taken. I came of age in the 70’s with all of the post-Vietnam Hippie-era Carteresque crap being shoveled at me, but it didn’t take. (unlike our President who seems to have swallowed every last bit of it)
