In a culture that would restore polygamy in a heartbeat if it became legal, why should we be surprised that they gave him a standing ovation for being naked in a hot tub with a 15 year old girl.
Joseph Smith would be proud of Garn.
“Joseph Smith would be proud of Garn.”
So would John Edwards. That said, it’s hard to imagine the Senate giving him a standing ovation for his recent confessions (although if memory serves well, many Democrats “stood by their man” Bill Clinton during and after his impeachment: regardless of whether felony lying before a grand jury or subornation of perjury were grounds for removal from office, his behavior was despicable and in a perfect world he would have been shunned and offered his resignation for his shameful behavior instead of boasting about how he’d beat a partisan witchhunt).
