Reports about Israeli spy planes entering Hungary follow mysterious killing of Syrian in Budapest

Two Israeli aircraft appearing to be spy planes flew near Budapest's international airport last week but did not land there, Hungarian media reported Thursday.
According to the reports, the planes were on a "spy mission" that may be connected to the assassination of a Syrian national in his vehicle Wednesday in the Hungarian capital.
The two Gulfstream planes, reportedly equipped with the IDF's finest intelligence means, flew through Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania before entering Hungary's airspace, the media outlets said. The aircraft were said to leave Hungary after completing their mission, without ever landing in the country.
Responding to media questions, a spokesman for the Hungarian Defense Ministry said that the Israeli planes were on a diplomatic mission.
Meanwhile, the Hungarian Foreign Ministry said that air traffic in the country is under the jurisdiction of the local aviation authority. The Ministry refused to address questions regarding the nature of the mission that prompted the Israeli planes to arrive in Hungary.
The identity of the Syrian national assassinated in Budapest had not yet been published. Hungarian police officials said an unknown assassin shot the 52-year-old Syrian while he was driving his car. The shooter grabbed a black briefcase from the vehicle before fleeing the scene of the attack, police said.

The Israeli planes were in Hungary airspace with Hungarian approval. I don’t think this article is suggesting Israel is taking any agressive action against Hungary, just speculating it was somehow connected to the killing of a Syrian national.
Considering some of the assassinations in the region the past couple years (Imad Mughniyah, Dubia hit, etc) I wouldn’t put it past Mossad

I guess Gulfstreams are more in style with today’s boogeymen than black helicopters. I imagine it’s a more comfortable ride, at least.

2 things are readily verifiable according to the Hungarian press
1) 2 Israeli planes entered Hungarian airspace with permission, but never landed - at least at the International airpost
2) A Syrian national is killed within the same time period
-the rest looks like speculation, but given the proclivity of Mossad to reach out past its borders and take out undersirables, the timing looks very coincidental

There’s a lot of recent news about Mossad and assassinations. Are they trying to send a message by making this public? BTW, they seem to be admitting after the fact that this “diplomatic” mission had other goals, not an unusual fact except for the detail that Mossad normally prefers to stay out of the press.

They've slept well for two years longer than I expected. I hope Israel is willing to admit that it's time to put an end to that.

FWIW - I think the connection between the two events is pretty weak to say the least. But in the aftermath of the Dubia hit job, it doesn’t surprise me to see a story like this.

Something to consider: How could “news sources” ever have any knowledge of this information, if they were not fed the information by the Mossad? It is either an intentional leak, or they are just making it up, out of whole cloth.

He was wondering how the writer knew what was in those airplanes. The writer said they were equipped with Israel’s most advanced technology.. but for all we know they were just carrying Santa’s Elves for a trip to the Via Dolorosa.
