Catholic Bishops Launch Newspaper Ads Attacking Pro-Abortion Health Care Bill

Washington, DC -- The nation's Catholic bishops have launched a slew of newspaper ads criticizing the pro-abortion Senate health care bill. Their renewed effort to defeat the legislation and its abortion funding and promotion comes as dissident Catholic groups are confusing House members into supporting the bill.

If this is important and it is, why not step up before the camera and make your thoughts known.
Putting an op-ed piece in the newspaper is like posting it on a tree.

They are very late to the dance IMO.

"The American people and the Catholic bishops have been promised that, in any final bill, no federal funds would be used for abortion and that the legal status quo would be respected," Cardinal George continued. "However, the bishops were left disappointed and puzzled to learn that the basis for any vote on health care will be the Senate bill passed on Christmas Eve" and "the Senate bill deliberately excludes the language of the Hyde amendment."

Planned Parenthood and pro-abort groups like it. Ergo, the bill funds abortion.

“President Obama's health care reform proposal would make a real difference for the women and families who rely on Planned Parenthood. . . . and [the bill] significantly increase access to reproductive health care.” (Planned Parenthood alert, March 6, 2010.)

Best reply I heard all day was from Senator King.

In Roe versus Wade they said government shouldn’t be able to tell a woman what she could or couldn't do with her body.

Now everyone will have to go to the government to be told what they can or cannot do with their body.
Ironic?

Being Catholic, I’m sorry to say it but the Catholic bishops have lost all credibility. First they do their level best to elect Democrats through CCHD, then they oppose the natural result of that action. Disgusting and shameful.
