Daniel Boone was a man, was a big man.....

With an eye like an eagle and as tall as a mountain was he.
Daniel Boone was a man. Yes a big man.
He was brave, he was fearless and as tough as a mighty oak tree.

From the coonskin cap on the top of ol Dan to the heel of his rawhide shoe
The rippin'est roarin'est fightin'est man the frontier ever knew.

Daniel Boone was a man. Yes a big man.
And he fought for America to make all Americans free.
What a Boone. What a wonder. What a dream comer truer was he.

Am I the only one who can’t remember the actual theme...only the version we sang among friends (an extremely racist version)?

I can’t remember a single episode but that was a big show for me and I had a little coonskin cap. So did the other kids. Everyone ran around with cap pistols which are a no-no these days. Mothers pretty much tolerated cap guns though it got on their nerves. These days they get the boy put on Ritalin

RIP Fess. Davey Davey Crockett king of the wild frontier. Born on a mountaintop on Tennessee, greenest state in the land of the free (kinda patriotic message for the youngsters)

Fess Parker provided me with many hours of pleasure watching his movies, his show, and dreaming of becoming a mountain man. Even as an adult I have thoroughly enjoyed his movies watching them again from time to time.

May the Lord God take Mr. Parker into his grace and hold him with all the love and compassion heaven holds.

Fess Parker also had a bit part in the movie THEM. He played a guy named Alan Crotty, who'd been locked up in an institution in order to keep him quiet. He was a hoot in that movie :)

Well, he’s number 3 then...

Merlin Olsen
Peter Graves
Fess Parker

May God bless them all, they were from such a different time. One that today seems so long ago as to have been a dream and not real.

I guess Davey Crockett “resonated” with the boys (now old men) at least
