I’m so sorry that happened with one of my posts. I promise it wasn’t me!

I do hope they can explain some of this though. I hope it’s like Wpin said and they fly family members to visit wounded soldiers. I think they need to come out with something detailed though, “We have a four stars with blah blah website” just isn’t going to cut it. You know?

That is the money that is spent on the various programs which benefit the servicemen...that is what it means, literally.

Now some of the costs will be things like shipping costs for care packages to troops (not to mention the care packages), some is for travel by families of soldiers who are in hospitals overseas...including hotel, food, transportation, everything! Also, investments in scholarship programs for young children of soldiers who have been slain. They have all sorts of costs that are associated with the logistics of getting the money to do the actual good deed as you can see from above.

This entire organization is a work of love and patriotism by those who work and volunteer there. This horribly offensive attempt to discredit them is wrong. Please have faith in people of honor like Col. Oliver North, Charlie Daniels, Lee Greenwood, Sean Hannity and hundreds of others who really do put their hearts into this wonderful organization.

The funny thing is that I would post to you on FR and then get an email, which I would respond harshly to and come back to FR and respond to you again. Here is the final email that I received before I told the person to go to hell:

the truth is your worst enemy. organizations like the NSA, CIA, etc shield us from the truth so we can believe our foreign policy is what our politicians tell us it is. The worst fear of people like the Hannity’s is when truths are exposed, for example the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, the USS Liberty, etc, etc

Truth is something that’s lost on republicans. They say they want to protect social security and medicare from obamacare, but up until a few years ago they were saying we should dismantle social security and medicare and that they are socialist programs. If it were up to Republicans, there would be no property taxes, no compulsory education, and an ignorant electorate. Of course, we would then be unable to compete economically against foreign countries. But keep in mind that compulsory education is a form of socialism where the state forces kids to get an education regardless of whether the parents want them to or not. It is a form of regulation and intrusion into our lives.

Btw, Israel has socialized medicine. Does that means Israel has “death panels” like Retard Barbie says?

My sister and niece work for Freedom Alliance, they would not work for anything less than a stellar organization, which this truly is. Yes, they fly families overseas to visit with their wounded military loved ones. They have several programs, not just the scholarship one. Before you disbelieve an independent charity rating organization, to believe a known liar and distorter, check them out. They are legit...here is from their site;

Overview

Founded in 2001, Charity Navigator has become the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities. In our quest to help donors, our team of professional analysts has examined tens of thousands of non-profit financial documents. As a result, we know as much about the true fiscal operations of charities as anyone. We’ve used this knowledge to develop an unbiased, objective, numbers-based rating system to assess the financial health of over 5,000 of America’s best-known charities.

Specifically, Charity Navigator’s rating system examines two broad areas of a charity’s financial health — how responsibly it functions day to day as well as how well positioned it is to sustain its programs over time. Each charity is then awarded an overall rating, ranging from zero to four stars. To help donors avoid becoming victims of mailing-list appeals, each charity’s commitment to keeping donors’ personal information confidential is assessed. The site is easily navigable by charity name, location or type of activity and also features opinion pieces by Charity Navigator experts, donation tips, and top-10 and bottom-10 lists which rank efficient and inefficient organizations in a number of categories.

Last year alone, more than four million donors used the site that TIME Magazine called “One of America’s 50 Coolest Websites for 2006.” Additionally, the site is a two-time Forbes award winner for “Best of the Web,” was selected by Reader’s Digest as one of the “100 Best Things about America,” and was chosen by PC World as “One of America’s Top Websites.” In 2007, BusinessWeek inducted Charity Navigator into its “Philanthropy Hall of Fame” for “revolutionizing the process of giving.” Charity Navigator was singled out in 2006, 2007 and 2008 by Kiplinger’s Financial Magazine as “One of the Best Services to Make Life Easier” and Esquire Magazine recently told its readers that using our service was one of “41 Ways to Save the World.”

Charity Navigator’s leaders have provided expert analysis and commentary on the charitable sector for The Factor with Bill O’Reilly, most CNN programs, and each of the network morning shows—NBC’s The Today Show, ABC’s Good Morning America, and CBS’s The Early Show. We have also appeared on FOX News, CNBC, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, The Newshour with Jim Lehrer, Nightline, and Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, among others, and served as contributors to National Public Radio programs Morning Edition and All Things Considered. We have been profiled in Fast Company magazine, Contribute, CFO Magazine, and The Washington Post, and quoted in nearly every major American newspaper or weekly magazine. We have published editorials and articles on charity accountability, the role of government regulation in the charitable sector, fund-raising ethics, and non-profit leadership in such newspapers as The Atlanta-Journal Constitution, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and The Los Angeles Times.

In order to expand our reach and better meet the needs of our users, Charity Navigator has worked hard to establish strategic partnerships with industry leaders in other sectors. We partner with CNN to identify and highlight charities for the global network’s Impact initiative, with the World Economic Forum to review and approve prospective global leaders, with Foundation Source to supply philanthropists with quantitative research data to use in making charitable investments, and with Network For Good to offer the convenience of online giving.

Charity Navigator accepts no funding from the charities that we evaluate, ensuring that our ratings remain objective. Furthermore, in our commitment to help America’s philanthropists of all levels make informed giving decisions, we refuse to charge our users for this trusted data. As a result, Charity Navigator, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization itself, depends on support from individuals, corporations and foundations that believe we provide a much-needed service to America’s charitable givers.

Holy cow! A) “Retard Barbie” is a term I would NEVER use. I worked on McCain’s campaign here in Georgia ONLY for Sarah. B) My problem with Hannity isn’t about how I feel about conservatives, it’s about how much he annoys me personally. If he conned this charity, that is a reason to be angry with him, but not for conservative principles.

Just dang, that person really is a nutjob!

“How much of the $5 million difference between revenue and expenses was distributed to the veterans that the organization was founded to serve? Can you tell us that?”

From the looks of it, it goes into a “slush fund” for future programs, expenses, etc. It is simply unspent at this time, but will be spent in the future. It is a good practice to build up a reserve amount of cash to ensure continuity of future operations should rough times come.

Am on the Mark Levin live thread now but saw the other thread on this and posted:

Debbie Schlussel has been a Sarah Palin basher. Not often
a reliablle source period.

I have been to two Freedom concerts here in San Diego.
Watched interviewed by Sean, Mark Levin, Ann Coulter,
Fred Thompson, John Voight, Fred Thompson, and Ollie NOrth

Debbie sounds like she has some personal problems

Thank you both! We are trying to find out if Evelyn is en-route to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane via air-ambulance or ground transport. We have her two oldest kids, the oldest of those is in Young Marines, and she has four others living with her including a baby. They are very poor but fortunately she has Medicaid. I can’t take my wife to Spokane because she is taking care of all six kids right now. Prayers most appreciated!

The entire amount shown on the Charity Rating site...it does the audit for us. It represents about 80% of expenditures. That is healthy and why they have a four out of four star rating.

I know the Dem leadership hates Israel, but I never heard Pelosi make *that* claim.

Cheers!
