That is the only legitimate question that remains. I suspect that the presentation of benefit concerts IS a program expense, in itself. I suspect that program expenses will be approximately $5.1 million to concert presentation, and $1.0 million to payouts for soldier injuries and scholarships. If I’m right, Schlussel is correct in her analysis of payouts. It won’t make it illegitimate as a charity, but the “program expenses” are misleading.
If you look at the Freedom Alliance website, it also appears that scholarships are not the only thing they do. So looking only at payout for scholarships, while ignoring the other missions, would skew the results also.
