WashTimes OpEd: Impeach the President?
The Washington Times ^ | Friday, March 19, 2010 | Jeffrey T. Kuhner

SNIP

Mr. Obama is imposing a leftist revolution. Since coming to office, he has behaved without any constitutional restraints. The power of the federal government has exploded. He has de facto nationalized key sectors of American life - the big banks, financial institutions, the automakers, large tracts of energy-rich land from Montana to New Mexico. His cap-and-trade proposal, along with a newly empowered Environmental Protection Agency, seeks to impose massive new taxes and regulations upon industry. It is a form of green socialism: Much of the economy would fall under a command-and-control bureaucratic corporatist state. Mr. Obama even wants the government to take over student loans.

SNIP

The Slaughter Solution is a poisoned chalice. By drinking from it, the Democrats would not only commit political suicide. They would guarantee that any bill signed by Mr. Obama is illegitimate, illegal and blatantly unconstitutional. It would be worse than a strategic blunder; it would be a crime - a moral crime against the American people and a direct abrogation of the Constitution and our very democracy.

It would open Mr. Obama, as well as key congressional leaders such as Mrs. Pelosi, to impeachment. The Slaughter Solution would replace the rule of law with arbitrary one-party rule. It violates the entire basis of our constitutional government - meeting the threshold of "high crimes and misdemeanors." If it's enacted, Republicans should campaign for the November elections not only on repealing Obamacare, but on removing Mr. Obama and his gang of leftist thugs from office.

It is time Americans drew a line in the sand. Mr. Obama crosses it at his peril.

At some point, shouldn't the president have at least a passing familarity with honesty? Obama lies in almost everything he says.

I had to stop watching his speeches or run the risk of a shoe through the TV.

If America adopted a drinking game of taking a drink every time Obama lied the US would be filled with alcoholics within a week.

Too logical... When the government is NOT abiding by the Constitution, it is up to the people (forget the courts) to provide relief. It just may be time for that to become a reality...

So how can you impeach anyone if you don’t control the Senate?

Maybe starting the Second U.S. Civil War was always Obama’s game plan - As a Marxist of long standing he believe that “The Revolution” is necessary to establish socialism.

ON THE OTHER HAND....

Many Socialists believe that “The Revolution” can triumph by more or less peaceful means - Hitler’s overthrow of the Weimar Republic is an example, as well as Chavez’s destruction of his republic.

In fact, I think a civil war is NOT in Obama’s plan. Where are his “Red Guards?” Where is his domination of the U.S. Army? National Guard? Navy? Air Force? Marine Corps? Yes, he is CIC, but the U.S. military swears a sacred oath to the Republic and not to the president. If the military thinks Obama has become a threat to the Republic, they will act alone, if necessary, to remove that threat. This is their duty, and Obama knows it.

THEREFORE...

Let us Patriots play the FORCE CARD...If we cannot remove Obama from office by legal means.

“Obamacare is opposed by nearly two-thirds of the public, more than 60 percent of independents and almost all Republicans and conservatives. It has badly fractured the country, dangerously polarizing it along ideological and racial lines. Even a majority of Democrats in the House are deeply reluctant to support it.”

I agree 100%

Shall we deem him impeached and convicted?

Where is it written that the president gets to destroy the wealth of the people who have earned it?

I wasn’t referring to the military as “his forces”.

Members of Congress are not subject to impeachment.

We could just toss Pelousy off of the Golden Gate Bridge instead.

You know, dispense with the formalities and all that ;)

Hey, that was a fun link, thanks! Love those cats - still have my beloved Putzi’s (Austrian slang for little one, baby) picture hanging on the wall. She was as devoted as any dog that I’ve ever had!

All of the guilty occupants in Leavenworth for life would be better. I bet people would volunteer or even pay to be guards for a while.

Good evening. I hope you are doing well.

It is time Americans drew a line in the sand. Mr. Obama crosses it at his peril.

Let's see...at the outbreak of hostilities with Great Britain in 1776, one third of the populace were with the crown, one third were neutral, and one third kicked King George's a$$.

Hopefully, we will work out our differences peacefully. If not, the next war between the states will make the first look like a walk in the park on a warm spring day.

Members of Congress are not subject to impeachment.

Constitution, Article II, Section 4.
http://topics.law.cornell.edu/constitution/articleii

The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

The very first person impeached and tried by the Senate was William Blount, a Senator on January 11, 1799.

Yes we could and since we’re no longer following the Constitution, we could deem Sarah Palin president. We wouldn’t have had an election, but since actually following the Constitution is now optional, we could deem anything we like.

We could regard Sarah’s Facebook posts like executive orders and she could make create a new Congress selected from her Facebook friends. Sounds good to me.

Exactly. We controlled both the senate and the house. We got the impeachment of Clinton but didn’t get him removed. Removal by the politicians will never happen.

I have believed for some time that Obama and his radical cadre will keep pushing on every front until we truly push back - and I am not talking about phone calls. I am not at all certain that the GOP understands what they are up to; no matter how many times they hear Obama talk about "transformation" it doesn't seem to register that what he means is not merely change but revolution. Pray and prepare for whatever we must do. Perhaps ten million American patriots encircling Washington might get their attention. Let's see the news media ignore that.

I am not a radical and I do not espouse violence. But as much as I wish to live my life in peace, I am not giving up my liberty and my life so that an elite mob may rule because they believe they are so privileged and we are too stupid or afraid to fight back.
