“6 mortars fired from Gaza land in Palestinian territory
Shells aimed at western Negev hit Hamas-ruled territory; attack first since Sunday”

Ilana Curiel
Published: 04.07.10, 08:24 / Israel News

SNIPPET: “Six mortars fired from northern Gaza Wednesday morning landed in Palestinian territory. There were no reports of injury or damage.

The shells were aimed at Israel’s western Negev region.

The previous attack emanating from the Hamas-ruled territory came Sunday night, when a Qassam rocket exploded in an open area within the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council’s limits, causing no injuries or damage. A few hours prior to the rocket attack, Israel allowed a shipment of clothes and shoes for Palestinian traders into the Gaza Strip for the first time three years.

Saturday also saw a mortar fired from Gaza towards the Negev region. There were no reports of injury or damage in that attack either.”

“Israel distributes biochemical war protection kits”
Tue Apr 6, 5:41 AM

SNIPPET: “JERUSALEM (AFP) - Israel Tuesday began distributing millions of protection kits against biochemical warfare, Deputy Defence Minister Matan Vilnai announced, stressing the campaign was not linked to any imminent threat.

“We have equipped ourselves with millions of protection kits against biological or chemical warfare, and a massive distribution programme for the population started today,” Vilnai told army radio.

“Every family in Israel can receive these kits at home and be instructed on how to use them by Israeli postal workers, at an average cost of 25 shekels (five dollars), or pick them up free of charge at post office counters.””

“Shin Bet: Leak poses “direct threat””
By YAAKOV KATZ
08/04/2010 13:11

SNIPPET: “Authorities on Thursday finally lifted the veil on a dramatic case that has made headlines overseas, involving alleged espionage, drastically-breached IDF security, and the conflicting demands of national security and freedom of the press.

At an extraordinary press conference, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) announced that it now planned to accelerate its investigation of Haaretz reporter Uri Blau, who is believed still to be in possession of hundreds of top-secret classified military documents that were stolen from the IDF by a former soldier, Anat Kamm.

With the whereabouts of most of the documents still unknown, Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin warned of a direct, ongoing threat to national security, and said his agency should have “taken the gloves off” long ago in pursuing the culprits.”

IN THE U.S.A.:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/briefing-white-house-press-secretary-robert-gibbs-4610

SNIPPET - quote:

Q On Iran, there’s a psychological statement saying, we cannot change anything unless we accept it. Have you tried to change your situation towards Iran — to accept nuclear Iran? And dealing with nuclear Iran?

MR. GIBBS: I think the President has — the President, in an interview yesterday, said he understands and it’s certainly the right of countries to peacefully pursue nuclear power. But Iran has obligations as part of the NPT that it must live up to. Over the past many years, it has taken some very provocative steps in direct avoidance of those obligations. The President outlined with President Sarkozy and Prime Minister Brown at the G20 an effort by the Iranians to go around the IAEA in a clandestine effort that many presumed was to create nuclear material for a nuclear weapon. Again, that is — that breaks their obligation and their commitment to the international community.

So I think what you’ve seen over the past more than a year are efforts at engagement that Iran has decided on each and every — at each and every turn to step back from. That has brought the international community along to the point where our partners in the P5-plus-1 will soon, as the President and others have acknowledged, take strong sanctions into the Security Council. And the President hopes to see the sanctions pass the Security Council by spring.

“10,000 flowers sent to Netanyahu after White House ‘ambush’
‘Obama needs to wake up and smell the roses; Americans stand with Israel’”

SNIPPET: “Americans are reportedly sending nearly 10,000 yellow roses to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a sign of friendship following what the effort’s organizers are calling “the worst treatment from any president in American history.”

As WND reported, following a meeting last month in which President Obama walked out on Netanyahu and the Israeli delegation, WND columnist Janet Porter of Faith2Action organized an The Israel Friendship Project to send roses to the prime minister as a show of American support.

Included in each dozen roses is a card that reads, “Dear Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: Be encouraged, Americans stand with you. God bless you.”

The cards concludes with the biblical verse, “The Lord builds up Jerusalem,” from Psalm 147:2.

Now, Porter is reporting, the response has been overwhelming, with nearly 10,000 flowers ready to be delivered by a Jerusalem florist.”
