I’m glad I held my reply until I had read all the other responses.

I was very much taken with a comment that proudtobeanamerican1 had expressed @11 regarding “I wouldn’t feel safe after voting no.” My initial reaction was to say “I wouldn’t feel safe after voting yes” but wanted to clarify it a bit.

Shire notes that our civil servants have not only alienated themselves from their masters politically, but they have insulated themselves against contact with the “huddled masses”. They increasingly fear us (remember the townhalls last summer?!) and know that they are working against our expressed will (but don’t care).

Should they succeed with this HELLcare Øbama-nation it will be they who will require even more stringent protection against the upstart rabble.

If this thing passes, there could very well be Congress-Critters whose lives are literally on the line.

I came to Buddhism by way of Hindu Shaivism, and I still smell of Shiva. I have read this before in Alinsky’s screed, and I must say, I have no problem with it.

Shiva, in classic Hindu understanding, is one of three main manifestations of God: Shiva, the Destroyer; Brahma, the Creator, Vishnu, the Maintainer. The world is cyclical, not linear, and various forms get created, maintained and destroyed ad infinitem. The destruction is no less holy than the creation or the maintaining - it is part of the way things are structured.

But for these Communists who have Progressively usurped our Constitutional Republic for the past century, I don’t think they understand that Alinsky’s truths cut both ways. The current political and cultural status quo and trends, the result of a long decline in their chosen direction, will invariably have its day of reckoning, its rendevous with Shiva, and out of the confligration and destruction will come a new entity unlike the one before.

The newly emerging entity probably will not be what they hope for. The community will be re-organized in new ways, probably once again a basic return to our roots as a people, a regression to the mean. It will not be pretty along the way - Shiva will rule - but the cyclic return to our true nature as a people would be the predicted outcome.

Alinsky is a Shaivite at heart: I have no problem with that. He just didn’t think it through past his adolescent fascination with radicalism.
