Health care bill opponents: Executive order on abortion doesn't cut it
Washington Times - Water Cooler ^ | 3/21/10 | Kerry Picket

Reports are emerging that pro-life Congressman Bart Stupak, a Michigan Democrat, may be close to a deal with the White House regarding his issues with federal funding for abortion in the Senate health care bill. Mr. Stupak's spokeswoman told news outlets that a deal could be made for a presidential executive order that would address the Michigan Democrat's abortion funding objections. However, pro-life leaders and opponents of the health care legislation spoke out against the executive order idea as the best solution to keep tax-payer dollars away from the abortion industry.

The outcome of any vote by Congress on health care is irrelevant since Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution does not specifically grant Congress the power to regulate health care! Therefore the so called legislation on its face is Unconstitutional! The people are not bound to comply with an Unconstitutional act of Congress! This is a power regulated to the states per the 10th Amendment!

It is the reason why Idaho and Virginia have passed legislation blocking federal health care from being illegally imposed on the citizens of those states by reasserting their 10th Amendment rights and 34 other states considering similar legislation! This is the point people need to hammer home with their Congress critters!

An executive order can be revoked by the President at any time.

If indeed, 38 state do file suits, this might make an impression even on congresscritters who are willing to vote yes. It means they won’t be able to go home again, but will have to stay in their new country, DC, after they leave office.

Anyone believing Obama would eliminate federal funding for abortions in an EO is a fool. Obama is a proven liar and he is lying once again.

"An executive order can be revoked by the President at any time."

Or more likely a series of exceptions until the original order itself becomes the exception.

They (Congress, Dems and Repubs) have been ignoring the Constitution for decades. Why would you think they give a rip about it now. You can keep telling everyone that its against the Constitution. Make sure to yell it out of the small windows in the cattle cars that they load us into. It will sound best echoing off the walls in the “showers”. They are seizing power and no silly little old document will get in their way.

If Stupak beleives an EO is permanent, he is perhaps one of the dumbest dems in DC.

I believe all an EO can mean when it contradicts existing law, or a new law that the Senate bill might establish, is to serve as an order from the president for his executive branch to not enforce a particular law.

The executive branch constantly refuses to enforce many immigration laws, and there’s probably no reason why they couldn’t refuse to allow any abortion funding under a new Obamacare law, (IF that is Obama’s true intent).

Congress is not the government! The people are the government! Congress operates at the consent of the governed! The people have the final say as to how they will be governed! We've seen this for more than a year, especially this past week and today.

Read post #11. It also applies to SCOTUS.

I would say today Congress is the government they have ignored everything and everybody.
I believe we are getting to the point that this will only be turned around with bloodshed. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t have faith in any of the other paths.

If Stupak buys into it he buys into its legitimacy or lack thereof.

Maybe Iraq will invade Washington DC, and take out the dictatorship government. And then the UN will give us enough money to pay off our debts.

I mean, they owe us.

Stupak craves voting ‘Yes’ more than a nymphomaniac craves sex.

Surely Stupak can’t be STUPID enough to TRUST Hussein or believe any executive order could change the law in a meaningful way. Hussein is a LIAR!
