A new CNN Opinion Research poll, conducted over the weekend as the House debated Obamacare, finds that 59 percent of Americans now stand opposed to the health care legislation in Congress. Just 39 percent of the polls 1,030 respondents said they favored the bill.
These numbers shouldnt come as a surprise even to the White House. In fact, The Washington Post reported this morning that President Obama is set to begin an immediate public relations blitz aimed at turning around Americans opinion of the health-care bill. The White House plan will be both a short-term strategy to shore up political supporters of the legislation and a long-term effort to bolster Obamas legacy.
Reshaping the legislations image will take place in three phases, White House aides said: the immediate aftermath; the seven months until the November midterm elections; and the several years that follow, during which many provisions in the measure will gradually take effect.
Of course, given the findings of the CNN poll, the White House has its work cut out. In addition to the nearly 6 in 10 Americans who oppose the legislation, the poll also found very little good news about the bills details.
62 percent say the amount they pay for medical care will increase.
47 percent think theyll be worse off when it becomes law.
70 percent believe the federal budget deficit will go up contrary to repeated claims from Democrats.
56 percent view Obamacare as creating too much government involvement in health care.
Obama doesn’t care if people approve. He has a major victory and there will be no stopping his agenda now.
When CNN of all places says that 59% disapprove...the wheels are coming off.
And thst’s just the ones who will admit it.
What do they do when this fails to sway the public?
All government does good is lie and steal.
Media blitz, my arse.
Too little, too late Obamao.
Tar: Check.
Feathers: Check.
Politician Dummy: Check.
Pitchfork: Check.
I’m ready.
Good, the more he talks about it the worse the numbers get.
President Obama is set to begin an immediate public relations blitz aimed at turning around Americans opinion of the health-care bill What, as opposed to the public relations blitz he's been conducting for a year? How many speeches has His Nibs given on this subject, fifty? He's even had the media in the tank with him the whole way. And still people don't want it, don't trust it, and don't trust the people who say it'll be good. |
He won’t fail to sway, he will sway current supporters of HCR against it because they will finally find out that there is nothing in the bill of immediate benefit to anyone, and much of immediate financial harm and harm to medicare recipients.
There might be numbers high enough to get a constitutional amendment in the long run.
No worries. ABC will soon come out with a “poll’ which somehow manages to miraculously get most Americans to be suddenly in love with 0bamacre. Even as we speak, ABC is busy manufacturing their “poll”. Of course a very fat check from Goerge Soros will subsequently find it's way into the ABC's Chief pollster's check account.
Isn't that what The One has been doing nearly exclusively for the past year?
We hope.
I don't think the power of the MSM should be underestimated, here. On Friday's World News broadcast, Sawyer had a list of 8-9 things "you should know" bout Obamacare. Not ONE thing on that list was in any derogatory of the bill, and did not mention in their story that it would raise taxes on the middle class, or raise taxes at all.
Obama is going to try to sell this abortion, and the MSM is going to give him all the help that they can.
It will go up. Obama and the Dems made a SERIOUS mistake by hiding the details of the bill. There are a great many people who think they will now be getting ObamaCare, soon after it is signed into law.
I have yet to speak to anyone, other than informed Conservatives and Republicans, who realizes the program doesn’t begin until the year 2014.
Many people are expecting free coverage now, and gimme-my-free-$hit-now people like that do not have the patience to wait four years for it.
My guess is they are going to totally shut up on HC. It’ll be like it never happened.
The scary number in this poll is the last one - only 56% view it as too much government involvement in HC. This is where the Conservatives failed to make their case, and it is the most important thing.
My son talks on the internet while he plays games. He hears things like , “I have to turn off my computer because we ran over our allowance of energy this month”, or, “ I wanted to go outside and smoke but there is police sitting there waiting to ticket me if I do”.
We need to make people aware the big danger here is we are losing our freedoms, that the fascists are at the door and they want to stop us from leading our lives of choice.
No stopping his agenda now?
Your handle is ilovesarah2012?
You sound like Sarah’s good RINO friend McCain.
Obama doesn’t give a rip. 90% could oppose amnesty, but that won’t stop him from pushing to offset the electoral disaster that awaits them in Nov. by granting citizenship - voting rights - to tens of millions of illegal aliens. In fact, it will only spur him on more.
