Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) said Monday he would vote against a reconciliation package that included changes to healthcare reform and student lending legislation.
Nelson said he opposed the package because the student lending bill would make the federal government the originator of student loans, replacing private lending institutions. Nelson said that would cost 30,000 jobs.

He must be one of the chosen “10”.
Don’t sweat it, Ben. We will grant the citizens of every state in the Union (except yours) and exemption from paying back the loans. The citizens of Nebraska can pay back the loans for everyone.
Nelson should go do the impossible sex-act with himself.
Don’t you get it? If they don’t qpprove the reconciliation bill then the Cornhusker Kickback stays in place.
Obama...get out the wallet again or is that Pelosi.
Well, Nelson joins Blanche Lincoln in the shameless hypocrisy and blatant cowardice club. It takes nerve, or something, to support this monstrosity every step of the way and then pretend to be taking some principled stand against the reconciliation bill after all the damage has already been done (with their unwavering help).
Magically they will still get 50 votes... and of course... only by pure coincidence... the 10 no votes will come from the 10 most vulnerable democrats, because they think people are stupid, but we are not stupid, and we are watching.
Obama and his running dog lackeys assume that will cost $61 billion less.
Bwahahahahaha.
Wait, wasn’t the student loan thing in the original senate bill? If so, he already voted FOR it.
"But Honey, I'm your wife, I wouldn't betray you".
Arnold then delivered one of his classic lines, however, that might be construed as threatening if applied here.
Oh, so he’s going to “Stupak” it, huh?
Nelson and a few others can vote nay now as they only need 50 Plus Biden to pass the recon bill if it comes to a vote.
What bribe is Nelson looking for this time?
He is voting against it to keep the Cornhusker Kickback in the law.
I believe the line was: “Consider this a divorce...”
In nine months , Nelson is going to be politically aborted. Don’t worry Ben, we’re told by professionals you’ll feel no pain.
Whatever, Bill. You’re an older fatter version of STUPAK.
Which is the biggest whore Nelson or Stupak...
Occasionally something comes out very even.
