Dodd: ‘Every American’ Has ‘Right’ To Health Care
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Life, liberty and the . . . “right” to health care?

Chris Dodd has proclaimed that “every American” has the “right” to health care. He said so on tonight’s Countdown, while reminiscing about Ted Kennedy.

If health care is a “right,” what about food, shelter and clothing? Are they all legally enforceable rights? Where do these “rights” derive from? What country are we living in? Is it one that the Founders would recognize?

Here was Dodd, getting misty about Ted with guest host Lawrence O’Donnell, and describing a “right” some of us didn’t realize existed . . .

Dodd’s a Stalinist. Fact is I had a right to see to my own health care until today. Then it was taken away. Now the government is in charge of my health care.

A right can’t be regulated by the government.

He's absolutely right. Every American has a right to health care. In fact, everybody has a right to health care, American or not.

They just don't have the right to make anybody else pay for it.

We have a ‘right’ to everything but our money and our freedom.

You have no right to the fruit of another person’s labor. No third party can stop you from entering into a contract for medical services, but beyond that it should not be in the realm of government.

And a sweetheart deal on a mortgage too.

Actually, a mortgage even if you have no income and no assets.

OK, well, I’d like to exercise my right to a cut of the graft he took while in office - like that sweetheart loan he got on property. It’s only fair, it was my government, and he stole it.

[Dodd: ‘Every American’ Has ‘Right’ To Health Care]
- to a house, a car, a big screen tv, etc, etc.

I doubt if the nanny-staters in Congress ever had to work hard to earn anything.

Reminds me of Pelosi inferring that ‘health care’ was covered by “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.

To be happy you have to be healthy so health care must be furnished.........

Hey Dodd: my rights are given by God, and are supposed to be protected by government. Government is not the bestower of rights. Read our founding documents again, that is if you ever have.

The government is NOT God!!!!

Health care is meaningless if you’re starving to death.

FREE FOOD FOR EVERYONE. IT’S A RIGHT.

Health care is meaningless if you’re living on the street.

FREE HOMES FOR EVERYONE. IT’S A RIGHT.

Health care is meaningless if you have no money.

FREE MONEY FOR EVERYONE. IT’S A RIGHT.

And what about mental health?

Health care is meaningless if you are so depressed you let yourself go.

FREE VACATIONS FOR EVERYONE. IT’S A RIGHT.

You can’t be too healthy without some sort of exercise.

FREE GYM MEMBERSHIP FOR EVERYONE. IT’S A RIGHT.

You can’t be too healthy if you can’t get to where you want when you want.

FREE TRANSPORTATION FOR EVERYONE. IT’S A RIGHT.

And this is the intellectual cesspool that is the Democratic Party. It’s the fundamental difference between the founding fathers and Karl Marx and the Democrats are closer to Karl Marx than the founding fathers. This is what the Republicans should pound the Democrats with. Draw out this distinction. Show just how corrupt and disgusting these parasites are.
