Life, liberty and the . . . right to health care?
Chris Dodd has proclaimed that every American has the right to health care. He said so on tonights Countdown, while reminiscing about Ted Kennedy.
If health care is a right, what about food, shelter and clothing? Are they all legally enforceable rights? Where do these rights derive from? What country are we living in? Is it one that the Founders would recognize?
Here was Dodd, getting misty about Ted with guest host Lawrence ODonnell, and describing a right some of us didnt realize existed . . .

It’s been one slippery slope since that chicken in every pot and a car in every garage election promise back in 1928.
Every American already had the right to access health care regardless of insurance or ability to pay. This bill does nothing to increase access to health care. It will likely decrease access.
It does give Insurance companies access to new, young and healthy customers who will be forced to purchase the Insurance that government(and Insurance Companies) dictates you need.
You have the right to demand that a doctor abort your baby
Your daughter has the right to take a lesbian date to the prom
Now you have the right to demand that “rich” people pay your doctor bills
what a country...
But according to Dodd, not all Americans have a right to sweetheart loans from Countrywide.
I’m of the view that we do have a right to health care, and even health insurance, and that the law just enacted is the most extreme infringement of that right yet promulgated by any level of American government.
By analogy, if the government starts deciding what “acceptable” newspapers are, the right to freedom of the press has been trampled. If the only way to have a rifle is to be part of the national army or a police force approved by the state, then the right to keep and bear arms has been grotesquely infringed.
Just as the right to freedom of the press and the right to keep and bear arms must be exercised at our own expense, not by the government taxing our fellow citizens to provide a subvention to buy paper and ink or a rifle and ammunition, and thereby gaining control over our means to exercise our rights, so our rights to health care and health insurance must be exercised at our own expense, and entail the right to not purchase health care or health insurance, just as freedom of the press includes the right to not print a newspaper, and the right to keep and bear arms need not be exercised.
Arms, be it rifles, pistols, ammunition for the same, or bladed weapons also require active labor to produce, but the 2nd Amendment assures us that our God-given right to keep and bear the same in defense of self, innocent others and our civil society shall not be infringed.
Health care and even health insurance are rights in the same sense as owning a rifle and ammunition (or a printing press, paper and ink). Obamacare infringes those rights.
THEN I....and MY CHILDREN DESERVE the SAME health care Dodd gets, DAMMIT!
Put a sock in it, Chris.
Your “rights” end at my wallet.
That’s what I was going to say; We all have a right to health care, if we can afford it.
So pay up waitress sandwich boy!

Every crooked Connecticut politician has a right to a “VIP mortage” for his CT mansion and also a mansion in Ireland
GGOGLE Search Sen Chris Dodd’s father
Caught and kicked out of politics for criminal activities, shakedowns, and accepting bribes
Chris Dodd himself only claimed to own a small residence in CT - like Sen. John Kerry - he illegally accepted a gift residence - and a new leased car from a dealer -
Now Dodd is married and has a child - his wife is a corrupt as he is
I know Dodd’s staff will read this and show it to him
Dodd plans on getting out of the Senate - before he is nailed and indicted like his crooked daddy was
Nazi Pelosi is 70 years old now - it appears in November when the House goes Republican - she will go back to just being a little minority peon-ess in the House
At that time she may decide to spend more time with her husband and enjoy the $100 million she funneled to her husband’s businesses - get more plastic surgery and Botox treatments!
Members of Congress should be closely monitored and banned fro voting or proposing or profiting from any government contracts or grants
Nazi belongs at Pelican Bay in solitary
A approval rating now of only 11%
Ignoramus! Have you never heard of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of health care.”
When we all have the health care plan Sen. Dodd has enjoyed his entire adult life, I want to hear about it.
May you BURN in #$!! for what you and your mob are doing to America!
If it's a right, then why are you taxing it?
If it's a right, then why are you threatening me with prison for not exercising that right?
Have you seen a ‘bump’ for Obama yet? They said there would probably be a bump at first from those in favor of the health bill..
Can't stand Pelosi, she turns my stomach.
Can you imagine the economic boost to Amerika when GM (Government Motors) is tasked with providing
every man and woman of driving age a new automobile?
And how about the construction industry?
What good's a car if you're living in a subsidized condominium?
What does that do to one's self-esteem?
A chicken in every pot and a McMansion for every family in Amerika.
What a housing boom we'll have when Washington can control the construction industry.
We can turn Amerika into a true, Worker's Paradise.
A belief in a “right” to health care is like an interpretation of the Second Amendment to the effect that the government must provide every citizen with a gun.
AND ... dammit, where’s my free pony ??????
