That's what I don't understand.  Then again, they might be for the bulldozing of it because it presents itself as an environmental eyesore.

The sign itself is not threatened, despite the hysterics of some. The property that's up for sale is above and to the left of the sign.

To some extent, the developers are playing chicken with the city. Just building a road up to the buildable spots would be an expensive challenge, and the city could hold up the permitting indefinitely. It's basically a knife-edge ridge falling to steep slopes, so short of bulldozing the entire top, the buildable area isn't that great
