CHICAGO - Congressman Bart Stupak's invitation to deliver the keynote speech at next month's Illinois Catholic Prayer Breakfast has been withdrawn.

The event's president, Michael Sullivan, says he and other Illinois Catholics felt betrayed when the Michigan Democrat set aside abortion concerns to vote for President Barack Obama's healthcare bill.

It goes without saying that the liberals despise him as well.

I can’t help wondering what Stupak thought would happen? He can’t honestly believe an EO would have amounted to anything. The bill got 219 votes - he could have stood by his supposed principles and it still would have passed. But why make such a big deal out of being pro-life, of the Stupak Amendment, of making grandiose statements about the sanctity of life, only to turn around and throw it all away at the last minute?

Obviously the man is a snake - but this issue is so important to so many people, and he’d positioned himself very publicly as being on the pro-life side - that I can’t even begin to understand why he would commit political and moral suicide like he has.

Yes, I know Obama gave his state something like $400,000 - but that’s chump change by Obama standards. And doesn’t begin to account for such a jaw-dropping 360, or such a lame lame excuse for it.

That`s my take on it as well.If the hierarchy of the Catholic Church would just lay down the law on abortion,we would be living in a better world.

So what if people leave the Church over it! So what if the collection plate gets a lot smaller! If Catholics had been told years ago, that voting for a pro abortion candidate, would mean you are no longer welcome in the Church,The make up of the Supreme Court would be such that abortion would be illegal.

Not to put it all on the Catholic Church, because the same can be said for the other main stream Churches as well.

Christians are against abortion and gay marriage. PERIOD

Bart Stupac being a Democrat, should have been enough reason to kick him out of the Church

Why would the Catholic Church do that?

When I consider what Stupak has done, I can’t but think that in his mind it is more just to provide care for millions than to hold out over one issue that he hoped could be handled with the EO.

NOT saying that I agree with this, but it’s the only thing that makes sense in regards to his actions.

But, I am reminded of the tale of the Good Shepard that left the flock of 99 to search out the one lost sheep. Jesus would have left behind all those millions to save even one of his innocents from abortion.

Stupak should be a pariah.

Remember: As you read the lengthy, and constantly-growing, lists of horrors in TerriSchiavoCare, like Rahm Emanuel reading your medical files, and the new taxes, and the prison terms, and the death panels—remember that the Catholic bishops had NO PROBLEM with ANYTHING in the bill except abortion funding.

In other words, the Catholic bishops are OFFICIALLY in favor of totalitarianism and collectivism. I.e., they are not Catholics.

The bishops want the money.

Cardinal George soft-pedals abortion because he has to raise $120 Million a year from wealthy, pro-abortion donors. The same is true in all the big cities with Catholic schools.

It is not the government’s duty to “provide” stuff for people.

It IS the government’s duty not to discriminate in the application of the homicide laws—protecting some people and not protecting others.
