NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- It's official: Californians will decide whether legal marijuana should be used to plug the state's $20 billion budget gap.

California residents are expected to vote this year on whether legalization should be approved to raise nearly $1.4 billion in state revenue.

...."With the state in the midst of an historic economic crisis, the move towards regulating and taxing marijuana is simply common sense," Ammiano said [the bill's sponsor]

Yeah that’ll lure manufacturing and other jobs to California. What investorm is going to want to set up shop in there? Other than Zig Zag that is.

The problem is even it’s legalized users will still buy from untaxed sources or dealers to save money. California will then have to hire more enforcement agents to crack down on the tax evaders negating any revenues and most likely adding to the deficit.

This whole thing is such a joke. They legalized pot for medical use here a couple of years ago, now suddenly 10% of the population needs pot. Just legalize it and get it over with.

If this does pass, maybe all the leftwingers will be to high to go to the polls and California will go republican.

CA has a lot of defense work. I believe defense contractors typically demand a drug test before they hire someone. So, if marijuana is legal in CA, can the employer legally refuse to hire someone for testing positive?

My own view is that an employer can refuse to hire someone for any reason at all. But my question is about how the legal profession would see this. It appears to me that drug tests for positions requiring security clearances might be seen as discriminatory.

....laughs.

Pot is not going to fix California’s money problems. Especially when I can grow my own and avoid the taxes.

The libtards out here will vote for it, but don’t expect that they will actually be able to collect any taxes. What grower will actually pay? How will they collect?
Idiocy.
Now we will have spaced out kids with psychotic streaks in our schools and on the street..what’s new.
