I’m going to say this, but I want you to look for a basic premise and see if it fits to a degree. I’m not saying it to be crass or to attack someone unfairly.

Hasslebeck has some good instincts. Her main problem is that she isn’t firmly grounded enough, or up to speed on issues. If she learned more about issues, I think she would be a lot better voice for Conservatism. Her heart is in the right place IMO.

Hasslebeck has the gig. She’s not convinced she needs to grow. And so she won’t get firmly grounded. She’s where she is intellectually and she’ll stay there.

With regard to Palin, this is why I have reservations about her. Her heart is in the right place, but I also think she needs to grow. If she was as up to speed on MeCain as she should be, she wouldn’t be supporting him right now.

Since Palin’s failed run with MeCain, I have said I like her a lot and would like to see her grow. Now she’s branching out, and having the gig, she doesn’t seem to realize she still needs to grow.

I’m not convinced she has a great understanding and grasp of foreign affairs. I’m not even sure she fully understands domestic political dynamics. If she fully understood why folk are chagrined at her support for MeCain, I honestly think she would have made a different choice. She seems to think this is about unjustified dislike for MeCain. No Sarah, it wholely justified dislike of the man based on his actions.

Hope you don’t mind the analogy.

I think you need to take into account that many people have a very short fuse when it comes to Conservatives who don’t fully grasp the fundamentals. They feel like they have been sold out on issue after issue, and they are tired of it.

This probably isn’t solely about Hasselbeck. It’s realizing that one of our elected Republicans wants to close Gitmo. Another of them wants to grant amnesty. Still another wants us to sign on the the Carbon Tax nonsense. And on and on it goes.

So when a person has taken on the role of representing Conservative views, people have a real short fuse be it in politics or even the popular media.

I can understand it. These people do short circuit our ability to get the accurate Conservative message out.

"With all due respect, DeckHand, WHY should we care what the bimbos of the View think?"

I don't care what they think, but I do care about what they say that goes unchallenged. Rather than vociferously refuted these spurious claims of racism by the health care protesters last weekend, Hasselback played it right down the Democrat talking-points line.

The 2000 election was decided by less than 1,000 votes. The 2004 election was decided by less than 60K votes in OH. In the weeks leading up to the 2008 elections, The View enjoyed their highest rating in their history.

While conservatives don't watch The View, a LOT of self-described moderates or independents do. When you're attracting a daily audience of around 4 million viewers (during campaign season, as The View does), the lack of balance on that panel could hurt.

The minute conservatives cede to the liberals broadcast television, like we ceded academia decades ago, we're sunk. We have to continue to fight for conservative voices to be heard on broadcast channels, because despite the premature claims of the death of the MSM, they remain a powerful force in elections as witnessed by the last guy they worked tirelessly to elect.

"Might as well, everybody else wants to............there's definitely no unity around this site like there used to be. "

We shouldn't be unified around or about people who claim to be conservatives, while at the same time, giving cover to leftist media shills to slander and demean a small-government movement.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck doesn't have enough political campaign experience to say anything of the kind.

She should learn to speak when she has something meaningful to say, and just keep quiet when she doesn't.

Tell her to go drink some Budweiser or something ~ just get all the cr*p out of her system (in about 10 seconds).

"So when a person has taken on the role of representing Conservative views, people have a real short fuse be it in politics or even the popular media."

This is true. I would point out that I'm not reflexively critical of any conservative who occasionally takes a unorthodox conservative approach to a specific policy or political problem - so long as they don't make a habit out of it.

My problem with Hasselbeck is that, besides making a habit out of it, she is so painfully inarticulate and intellectually clumsy when she does try to advocate the conservative position, she ends up HURTING more more than helping.

There are so few conservative voices on television, that we have to expect more loyalty and effectiveness from the ones that the media portrays as conservative.

IOW, the Elisabeth Hasselbecks, the David Brooks, the Mike Murphys and the Megan McCains are killing us one cut at a time.

I think she got caught up in the moment and forgot her role as an antagonistic protractor.

Its all good..A few years ago I saw it once, back when Rosie and Elizabeth were having that feud, I wanted to know what the fuss was all about, after I saw it once, I was done..it is perhaps the stupidest sack of crap on television today. I really don’t get why it has the ratings it has, its like watching a bunch of cackling chickens go at it

I agree. I would give Hasslebeck more leway being as she is more of a personality than Megan should be. Look, taking that role, she has a certain obligation that she is not filling. I think we could agree on that. Megan has no excuse for not knowing Conservatism forwards and backwards, being that close to a political figure. But then look at her dad. That guy is either a knowing ‘Manchurian Candidate’ figure, or he’s a blithering idiot.

I LOVE that Sarah uses the target icons. She knows this will be nothing short of a tempest in a teapot by next week. How can anyone seriously think she is advocating violence? The fact is, they don’t actually think she is advocating violence, it’s a talking point they hope will work.

Sarah 2012.

She’s probably mad because Sarah won’t go near the View. She criticizes some marks Sarah puts on a map whilst the White House is coaxing, pushing, and shoving the country to Marxism and she says nothing.

A crosshairs graphic “despicable”? Guess we need to do something about the opening title sequences to I Spy, The A Team and all those 007 films then...

Jihad Joy must be getting to her on that show
